Tang San sensed the presence of a Title Douluo on the island. The person leading Tang San and his companions reported to Lord Seahorse that they had come to take the Sea God’s trials. Lord Seahorse instructed them that they must first cross the Sea Within the Sea and reach the Seahorse Sacred Pillar before qualifying for the trials.

Tang San used the Vast Sea Cosmic Shield to protect everyone as they crossed the Sea Within the Sea and arrived at the Seahorse Sacred Pillar. Feeling a familiar aura, Seahorse Douluo asked Tang San about the artifact. Tang San explained that the Vast Sea Cosmic Shield was a treasure of his. Seahorse Douluo informed them that since they had reached the sacred pillar, they had the opportunity to receive the Sea God’s trials.

The trials were divided into levels, ranked from lowest to highest: White, Yellow, Purple, Black, and Red—the highest level. Seahorse Douluo would serve as their examiner. The group entered a spiritual mirror where the level of their trials would be determined. Dai Mubai was the first to step forward for the Sea God’s evaluation. He was assigned the Black Rank Six Trials. The greater the number of trials, the harder they would be.

The Black Rank Six Trials were the most difficult within the Black Rank. Over the past century, Black Rank Trials had appeared only 31 times, and only seven people had ever succeeded, all of whom became Sacred Pillar Guardians. Seahorse Douluo himself was one of them. He warned that if they chose to take the trials, a land spirit master taking the Black Rank Six Trials would have to complete one trial each year.

If a trial wasn’t completed, the next one wouldn’t appear. If they exceeded the time limit or tried to evade their trials, the Sea God’s mark on their foreheads would cause them to die. In the Black Rank Trials, there was only success or death. Seahorse Douluo told them that when he took the Black Rank Four Trials, his final challenge had been to survive an hour under the attack of the Demon White Sharks.

He reminded them to consider carefully, as he could still send them away safely. Tang San and the others firmly replied that they had come to push their limits and would not regret their decision. Zhu Zhuqing was evaluated next. The Sea God commented that she carried too many desires on her path of cultivation. Zhu Zhuqing argued that the desire to grow stronger shouldn’t be seen as a flaw.

When asked why she wanted to become stronger, she replied that she longed for freedom. The Sea God warned her that she would one day understand that becoming stronger wouldn’t bring her true freedom and suggested she learn from Oscar’s sense of peace. Ultimately, Zhu Zhuqing was assigned the Black Rank Five Trials. Oscar, despite being a food-type spirit master, was also assigned the Black Rank Six Trials. Ma Hongjun received the same evaluation, Black Rank Six Trials.

Bai Chenxiang then stepped forward, asking for the chance to take a trial as well. The Sea God noted that she was different from the others and that the trials were not ordinary. He offered to send her away safely if she chose to withdraw. Bai Chenxiang admitted that she was far weaker than the others but still wished to give it a try. The Sea God acknowledged her determination and assigned her the Yellow Rank One Trial.

Hearing this, Bai Chenxiang felt disheartened, as it was a reflection of her limited strength. Ma Hongjun comforted her, saying that not even a god could define her; only she could define herself. Bai Chenxiang’s trial required her to endure Ma Hongjun’s attacks for the duration of one incense stick’s time. In the end, she successfully completed her trial and was grateful that Ma Hongjun treated her as an equal.

Ning Rongrong stepped forward and received the Top Rank Seven Trials, which shocked everyone. Seahorse Douluo explained that the last time the Top Rank Seven Trials appeared, they were for the Sea God’s Great Offering. If Ning Rongrong completed her trials, she would become the successor to the Great Offering. Tang San asked if the Top Rank Seven Trials were significantly harder than the Black Rank Six Trials.

Seahorse Douluo confirmed that the Top Rank Seven Trials were much more difficult, but whenever they appeared, they signified the rise of a powerful spirit master destined to become the Great Offering. No matter how challenging, the trials could definitely be completed. Xiao Wu received the Top Rank One Trial. Her task was to accompany Tang San in completing all his trials. Finally, Tang San was assigned the Sea God’s Nine Trials.

The Sea God’s Great Offering appeared and instructed Seahorse Douluo to arrange for the group to stay in the Sea God Island Lord’s residence during their trials. She told Tang San that he could not fail, as his trials were tied to the survival of Sea God Island. Meanwhile, Qian Renxue knelt in the Elder Hall, waiting for the Angel God to descend and assign her a trial. However, the trial did not appear.

Her grandfather, Qian Daoliu, told her that it didn’t matter if she didn’t receive the Angel God’s trial, as he would support her. Frustrated, Qian Renxue declared that if the Angel God didn’t acknowledge her, she would no longer revere the deity and would even destroy the Angel God’s statue. At that moment, the Angel God appeared, stating that only with such resolve was she worthy of receiving the trials. The Angel God assigned her the Angel’s Nine Trials.

Qian Daoliu explained that if she completed eight trials, she would become the next leader of the Spirit Hall. If she completed all nine, she would become unbeatable across the Douluo Continent. Tang San and his companions faced their first trial: ascending the Sea God’s Light. Only those ranked Purple or higher could climb the 1,001 steps leading to the Sea God Temple to pay respects.

Anyone attempting to ascend without the required rank would face attacks from the Sea God’s Light. Bai Chenxiang decided to join them, even if it meant continuing only until she couldn’t persist any longer. With their determination set, Tang San and the group embarked on their trials.
