The Legend of Taotie Episode 32 Recap
> The Legend of Taotie Recap
The Northern Di constantly invaded the borders. All the warriors were given dry rations, preparing to have their last meal before heading into battle. The situation was dire. Holding their rations, the soldiers felt uncertain. Suddenly, someone shouted toward the sky, "The Golden-Winged Bird is here! " Spirits were instantly lifted. The enemy, knowing the fearsome reputation of the Golden-Winged Bird, retreated shortly after engaging in combat. The military provisions finally arrived, alleviating the urgent situation.
However, the Golden-Winged Bird was severely injured and had only made a few cries earlier as a diversion. This was not a long-term solution. Chang Qing and the general, having no other options, decided to report the situation to Zhao Heng. Upon hearing about the bird's injury and that Chang Qing’s Divine Pen was no longer functional, Zhao Heng realized that only Zhu Chengbi, with her knowledge of mystical creatures, could help.
He immediately dispatched soldiers to Wuxia to request her aid. At Tianxiang Tower, Zhu Chengbi, bored and troubled about finding Chang Qing, suddenly heard the report from Zhao Heng’s guards that Chang Qing was with Zhao Heng. She quickly packed her belongings and set off for the military camp with Cui Yan. The Spirit Beast Diagram had already gathered six spirit beasts. Chang Qing’s master, having regained his physical form, could now move freely.
He immediately went to find Chang Qing, urging him to obtain the blood of the Taotie as soon as possible. Normally selfless and focused on helping others, Chang Qing struggled with this persistent demand from his benefactor. The benefactor reminded him once again that Zhu Chengbi was about to arrive and that he needed to act quickly. When Zhu Chengbi reached the camp, she examined the Golden-Winged Bird, which was gravely weakened.
She lamented that only the Nine-Segment Stone Dragon Marrow, an ancient divine item, could save its life. Yao Pengju, who regarded the bird as a brother, vowed to obtain the dragon marrow at any cost. That evening, a grand bonfire was lit in the camp. They invited a diviner to perform rituals, hoping to dispel the Golden-Winged Bird’s misfortune.
Zhu Chengbi sensed the extraordinary danger of the upcoming battle but, knowing it concerned the well-being of Daliang's people and with Chang Qing present, resolved to press forward. When she finally met Chang Qing, Zhu Chengbi humbly admitted her mistakes and begged for his forgiveness, but Chang Qing remained cold. To ease his burdens, Zhu Chengbi promised to heal the Golden-Winged Bird as soon as possible. Tan Yilu infiltrated the Northern Di and acquired the Nine-Segment Stone Dragon Marrow.
The rest was up to Zhu Chengbi. Late at night, unable to sleep, Zhu Chengbi turned restlessly in bed, justifying to herself that forcing Chang Qing to consume the Twin Mushrooms was only to prevent his young life from being cut short because of her. She believed kind-hearted people deserved to experience more of life. In his room, Chang Qing was also unable to sleep.
He had long forgiven Zhu Chengbi, but he kept his distance to avoid causing her harm. When Zhu Chengbi channeled energy to heal the Golden-Winged Bird, she discovered that the Nine-Segment Stone Dragon Marrow Tan Yilu brought back contained other substances, including Phoenix blood. Now, the Golden-Winged Bird showed signs of poisoning. Zhu Chengbi suspected that Tan Yilu had tampered with the marrow and immediately had Zhao Heng summon him before everyone.
Tan Yilu appeared innocent, claiming he knew nothing about the contamination. Meanwhile, the poisoned Golden-Winged Bird had transformed into a powerless crow. Yao Pengju, deeply concerned for the bird, asked Zhu Chengbi if there were other solutions. In truth, opening the Tongtian Passage to allow the bird to return to its origin would restore its power. However, the risks were immense.
Zhu Chengbi claimed there was no better solution for now but assured them the bird was no longer in immediate danger. Chang Qing, observing the situation, recalled his master mentioning that opening the Tongtian Passage could save the bird. He realized Zhu Chengbi was still unwilling to open it. Yao Pengju volunteered to return to the Northern Di to find more Nine-Segment Stone Dragon Marrow. However, as the only experienced general in the camp, Zhao Heng immediately refused.
Nevertheless, Yao Pengju left a letter for Chang Qing and quietly departed from the camp. When Chang Qing discovered the letter, he quickly sent Cui Yan to assist him in the Northern Di. Cui Yan, resourceful as ever, arrived in the Northern Di just in time. Yao Pengju had fallen into an ambush and was nearly captured. Fortunately, Cui Yan managed to rescue him.
