Zhao Heng, with no complaints, chose to sacrifice himself for the sake of Wu Xia. The divine dragon within Zhao Ai was awakened, and he once again led the soldiers into battle. United in determination, they achieved one victory after another. Zhu Chengbi returned to Tianxiang Tower with Cui Yan. Ying Tao greeted them happily at the door.

Zhu Chengbi, assuming Chang Qing was also at Tianxiang Tower, excitedly rushed inside, only for Ying Tao to tell her that Chang Qing had left after ensuring she was safely returned. It was clear that Chang Qing had not forgiven her. Distraught, Zhu Chengbi lay on her bed, listless and melancholic. She often reminisced about the times when Chang Qing was at Tianxiang Tower, how happy they were then.

Yet, she had ignored him, often bossing him around or blaming him unfairly. Ying Tao noticed that Zhu Chengbi had been sleeping all day since returning from the palace. Unable to hold back her curiosity, she asked Cui Yan about what they had experienced. Whenever Zhu Chengbi was awake, every object in the room reminded her of Chang Qing—of how he had diligently cleaned, scrubbed, and tidied Tianxiang Tower like a servant without ever complaining.

Lu Ying arrived at Tianxiang Tower with grave news. His weapon had been emitting signals recently, especially near the Xunlie Division. Furthermore, there had been mysterious murders, gruesome and bloody, suggesting that a powerful demon beast had entered the city. Based on the evidence, Zhu Chengbi deduced it might be Bai Ze. Soon after, a series of over a dozen brutal murders occurred. The guards suspected the demon beasts from the Xunlie Division prison were responsible.

Zhu Chengbi was confused—last time she had battled Bai Ze, she had gravely injured him. It seemed unlikely that he could recover so quickly, let alone command so many demon beasts. Cui Yan noticed that the Bai Ze Spirit Beast Scroll on the study desk was always spotless, as though untouched by dust. Zhu Chengbi suddenly realized that Bai Ze’s awakening might be tied to the scroll.

She instructed Cui Yan to close the doors as she prepared to seal the scroll. At that moment, Bai Ze emerged from the scroll, and a fierce battle ensued. It turned out that the scroll was Bai Ze’s physical form. Over time, the demon beasts Zhu Chengbi had subdued had appeared on the scroll, allowing Bai Ze to absorb their energy and gradually regain his physical body.

To gain more power, Bai Ze had secretly released many demon beasts, which then wreaked havoc among the people. Although Bai Ze was severely injured during their fight, he managed to escape. Zhu Chengbi, also gravely weakened, sealed the scroll and entrusted it to Ying Tao for safekeeping. Concerned about Zhu Chengbi’s condition, Cui Yan immediately summoned Lu Ying to Tianxiang Tower. Given Bai Ze’s injuries, they surmised he would remain dormant for a few days.

Zhu Chengbi decided to create the dish “Flavors of Humanity” as a way to repay the citizens of the city. She instructed Cui Yan to spread the news. The people of Wu Xia City were elated to hear that Zhu Chengbi was reopening Tianxiang Tower. Cui Yan, however, was worried about Zhu Chengbi’s health. Despite coughing, Zhu Chengbi reassured them not to worry.

She explained that her self-imposed isolation had likely emboldened Bai Ze into thinking she was vulnerable, even plotting to attack her. Cui Yan and Ying Tao worked diligently by her side, washing vegetables, slicing, and stir-frying. Soon, dishes bursting with vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and rich flavors were served. During Bai Ze’s recovery, Chang Qing remained by his side, tending to his wounds.

When he heard Bai Ze talking about gathering all the demon beasts in Wu Xia City and sending them back to their homes, Chang Qing was puzzled. Had his master already found the Qilin Blood? Bai Ze did not answer him. Meanwhile, many people flocked to Tianxiang Tower to taste Zhu Chengbi’s renowned dishes. Zhu Chengbi watched as a previously quarrelsome family wept with gratitude after eating her food, expressing regret for past wrongdoings and reconciling.

She smiled, thinking that this was the true purpose behind her cooking. One day, a new guest arrived at Tianxiang Tower. After tasting Zhu Chengbi’s exquisite dishes, the guest remarked that one ingredient seemed to be missing. Zhu Chengbi looked over and saw a young girl with pure, clear eyes. The girl suggested that using sea salt would enhance the flavor even more. Delighted to meet someone who shared her passion, Zhu Chengbi struck up a conversation with her. To her surprise, she discovered that the girl was Chang Qing’s younger sister, Chang Xiaoli.
