She shared her life at the Mu residence with Liu Yan, stating that Guo Juli was the only one she considered family. Liu Yan believed that with her intelligence, she could win her father's favor. However, Mu Zhuohua emphasized that she didn't care about the approval of unrelated people. Liu Yan asked if she cared about his affection for her, to which Mu Zhuohua responded that her admiration for him was unwavering. When she returned home, Mu Zhuohua told Guo Juli about Liu Yan's odd behavior and speculated that he might want her to cure him. She planned to investigate further after her current tasks were completed.

Princess Rou Jia was playing cuju alone when Shen Jinghong approached her to ask for leave. He had to prepare for receiving the Beiliang envoy. Princess Rou Jia supported the idea and offered Ye Mu Zhen to stay at her residence, helping her acclimate to the capital. The Emperor approved, and Ye Mu Jing reluctantly agreed.

Mu Zhuohua asked Liu Yan if he didn't find it regrettable to let go of such a peerless beauty. Liu Yan replied that declarations of love might be deceptive. An argument escalated into a sword fight between Liu Chen and Ye Mu Jing. Ye Mu Zhen followed Liu Yan to the riverbank, where Zhi Jian reminded her of her role as the Emperor's adopted daughter.
