Mu Zhuohua noticed that the mute servant's hand was shaped like a claw and asked Liu Yan if it resembled an eagle's claw. Liu Yan informed her that he had sent Zhi Jian to investigate, but Zhi Jian hadn't returned yet, indicating that the mute servant might have escaped. Liu Yan believed that Ye Mu Jing's visit had a purpose, and it would be strange if he didn't take action. Aware of Liu Yan's aversion to alcohol, Mu Zhuohua had prepared a special antidote for him in advance. As expected, Ye Mu Jing consistently tried to get Liu Yan to drink. Liu Yan's calm demeanor while drinking made Ye Mu Jing wonder if Liu Yan had already recovered from his illness. To test this, Ye Mu Jing and his sister, Ye Mu Zhen, continuously urged Liu Yan to drink.

At the end of the drinking session, Liu Yan staggered, preparing to leave. Unexpectedly, he saw Ye Mu Zhen approaching, prompting him to head towards the river. Coincidentally, Mu Zhuohua was also by the river and noticed Liu Yan's drunken state, so she helped him up. Taking advantage of his inebriation, Liu Yan no longer suppressed his feelings and kissed Mu Zhuohua. Mu Zhuohua was both shocked and delighted by the kiss. After handing Liu Yan over to Zhi Jian, she quickly left. Observing her hasty departure, Mu Zhuohua didn't understand why she ran so fast. After a couple of steps, she remembered Liu Yan's unhealed injuries and gave Zhi Jian some pills, instructing him to give them to Liu Yan every two hours. Zhi Jian couldn't help but comment that she had taken advantage of quite a few carriage rides.

That night, Mu Zhuohua lay in bed, reminiscing about her moments with Liu Yan, feeling a flutter in her heart. She realized that not only women could be a source of trouble, but men could be as well. The next day, after Liu Yan woke up, he inquired about Zhi Jian's findings regarding the mute servant's hand. Zhi Jian reported that he hadn't found the mute servant and suggested that the person might have fled. Liu Yan ordered a thorough search for the mute servant. Zhi Jian also mentioned to Liu Yan that Mu Zhuohua might have done something suspicious; she usually loved to hitch rides on carriages, but last night, she ran faster than a rabbit. Liu Yan located Mu Zhuohua and noticed that she looked tired, with dark circles under her eyes, likely due to her demanding tasks.

Mu Zhuohua asked if Liu Yan was just checking whether her dark circles were noticeable. Liu Yan told her that he couldn't remember some things from the previous night due to being drunk. Mu Zhuohua, feeling dejected by his response, murmured that she had forgotten as well, thinking it might be for the best. Meanwhile, the mute servant observed Princess Rou Jia secretly, and a child threw a stone that injured him. Hearing the commotion, Princess Rou Jia rushed over, took the mute servant to the Benevolence Hall, and tended to his wounds. The mute servant was captivated by a portrait of Xue Xiaotang on the wall and was told by Maner that Xue Xiaotang was their General Xue. The mute servant recalled the scene of the princess painting the portrait—it turned out that he was General Xue.

Seeing Liu Yan, Mu Zhuohua hid herself. Liu Yan remarked to Zhi Jian that she was avoiding him. Guo Juli, after buying steamed buns, was approached by Zhi Mo, who gave her a package of delicious food. Juli happily accepted it and found a note from Mu Zhuohua asking Zhi Mo what it meant. Zhi Mo informed her that it was Liu Yan's alias. Juli was puzzled why Mu Zhuohua had written the prince's alias, but Zhi Mo just smiled and didn't say anything. The Empress Dowager advised Pei Lan to find something for Liu Yan to do, fearing that he might uncover her secrets. Ye Mu Jing told Liu Ju that if they wanted peace between their families, Princess Rou Jia should marry him. Liu Yan responded that if Ye Mu Jing wanted to use the princess as a bargaining chip, then Nan Chen wasn't afraid of another battle.

The Empress Dowager told Princess Rou Jia that as a princess, she needed to consider the country's safety. Princess Rou Jia expressed her willingness to sacrifice for the nation's well-being. Mu Zhuohua learned about this and worriedly went to watch Princess Rou Jia. She unexpectedly encountered Ye Mu Zhen instead. Ye Mu Zhen tried to provoke Mu Zhuohua but was thwarted. Ye Mu Jing boasted that Nan Chen lacked real men and only he was worthy of Princess Rou Jia. Shen Jinghong didn't want Princess Rou Jia to marry Ye Mu Jing or compete in archery with him, so he blindfolded himself and still hit the bullseye. Ye Mu Jing claimed the competition was a tie after witnessing this.
