The Empress Dowager instructed Liu Yan and Sun Yunyun to perform a duet. Sun Yunyun asked Liu Yan if she could give him "Lingxi" in case he didn't have his flute with him. Many noblewomen discussed the talented and handsome couple, Liu Yan and Sun Yunyun. Liu Yan stood up and had Zhi Jian bring "Du You," the flute that Mu Zhuohua had given him. Holding "Du You," Liu Yan told Sun Yunyun that he cherished this flute and started playing it. Sun Yunyun finally understood the situation and looked at Mu Zhuohua, who was happily drinking tea. Sun Yunyun quickly realized and knew that Mu Zhuohua's poetry and literary skills were not outstanding, but she was tasked with composing a poem. Princess Rou Jia knew this was challenging for Mu Zhuohua and interceded on her behalf with the Empress Dowager.

Ignoring Princess Rou Jia's plea, the Empress Dowager insisted that Mu Zhuohua must compose a poem. Mu Zhuohua had no choice but to reluctantly compose a poem with the lotus as the theme. As soon as Mu Zhuohua finished speaking, everyone started discussing, finding her poem hard to understand. Liu Yan explained the poem on behalf of Mu Zhuohua. Princess Rou Jia had intended for Mu Zhuohua to relax, not expecting it to become so troublesome. However, Luyuan Shi informed them that there was no longer any Snow Dust Pill available. He suggested that they take turns using acupuncture to dissolve the stagnated blood within Xue Xiaotang's body.

Sun Yunyun purchased Mu Zhuohua's collection of poems and tried to study it, but she didn't understand. She sought her brother's help to decipher it. He explained that it was a riddle, meaning "It's none of my business." Realizing she was being made fun of, Sun Yunyun reported to her mother, Madam Sun. Madam Sun believed that her daughter had come a long way for Liu Yan and couldn't have been bullied. She wanted to visit the Empress Dowager and seek her support. Sun Yunyun disagreed and wanted to compete with Mu Zhuohua on equal terms, feeling that her talents were not inferior.

Sun Yunyun also came to the Revenue Ministry to observe, and the discussions revolved around her. Li Daren informed Mu Zhuohua that Sun Yunyun was a new observer from the Revenue Ministry. When Sun Yunyun saw Mu Zhuohua, she told her about going with Liu Yan and brought the pastry she had made to give to Liu Yan, but he declined. She informed Mu Zhuohua that this pastry was from Liu Yan, and she wanted her to eat it. Mu Zhuohua already understood what was happening and burst out laughing. Li Daren's group believed that Mu Zhuohua was someone who dealt with big matters and wouldn't get upset over this. Seeing Sun Yunyun's expression, Mu Zhuohua took her aside and gave her a private lesson. However, Sun Yunyun started to doze off while listening. She told Mu Zhuohua it was getting late, so they decided to continue tomorrow. Sun Yunyun couldn't hold on any longer and inquired about Mu Zhuohua's poem at the Poetry Assembly, where her "Peony Flower" received many votes, and people might think Lord Ding wrote it. Mu Zhuohua's brief response infuriated Sun Yunyun. She had repeatedly tried to provoke Mu Zhuohua, but each time, Mu Zhuohua handled it well.
