Princess Rou Jia informed the Empress Dowager that in the past five years, her Ji Shan Tang had expanded, and she had continuously gathered intelligence. Everything had been her design. She knew she couldn't compete directly with the Empress Dowager, so she used Lord Ding and the Empress Dowager's rivalry to her advantage. When she learned that Liu Yan had already discovered the Eagle Claw, she went to see Ye Mu Jing to make him state his demands for marrying her. She knew Liu Yan wouldn't agree, but her father, Liu Ju, remained silent, and she realized that familial bonds couldn't be relied upon—she had to rely on herself. She had also prepared a retreat plan for herself, which involved Mu Zhuohua. She deliberately let Mu Zhuohua discover Beiliang's intention to retreat.

The ministers didn't believe him, so Liu Yan revealed that there were two versions of the testament, with one in his possession. He suggested that they compare the two testaments. In front of all the ministers, Liu Yan found the testament left by Liu Ju and Wei Elder read out its contents. This testament stated that Liu Chen would inherit the throne. Still, the ministers were skeptical, and Liu Yu persisted, thinking that Liu Yan might be biased because of his affection for Liu Chen.

Liu Yan told them that this matter was the work of a Beiliang spy, and he had only changed one testament to intentionally create chaos in Dingjing, playing right into Beiliang's hands. He ordered the three princes to reside in his Dingwang Mansion and advised the ministers not to discuss this matter until the truth was uncovered. Meanwhile, Princess Rou Jia continued to plot her way to power, and Liu Chen ascended the throne.
