Mu Zhuohua found Liu Yan, and he asked her why she had come here when the late emperor had just ascended the throne, and there were many affairs in the court. Mu Zhuohua questioned why he had come here when he knew there were many affairs. Liu Yan told her that he had made it clear in his letter that he was tired of matters of the heart. Mu Zhuohua felt that at this point, Liu Yan's words were meant to hurt her, and Liu Yan told her he left because he was weary. Mu Zhuohua watched him leave, standing outside his door, waiting for him.

She waited from day to night, and when it rained at night, Guo Juli stood with her at the door, using his hand to shield her from the rain as they waited for Liu Yan. Zhi Mo came out wanting to persuade them to leave, but Mu Zhuohua asked him to take Guo Juli away. Juli insisted on staying with Mu Zhuohua, so Zhi Mo had no choice but to go back and get an umbrella for them. He silently stood by their side. Guo Juli couldn't withstand the rain and fainted, so Zhi Mo quickly carried her back inside. Mu Zhuohua couldn't hold out any longer under the heavy rain, and just as she was about to collapse, Liu Yan came out and took her back inside. Liu Yan looked at Mu Zhuohua sleeping in bed and mumbled about why she wouldn't let him go. Eventually, they would be worlds apart, and she would undoubtedly be sad.

Princess Rou Jia stood in front of her mother's grave and said that although she didn't know why Liu Yan had left Dingjing, it was an opportunity for her. She wouldn't let anyone stand in her way. While walking, she accidentally twisted her ankle, and Shen Jinghong happened to arrive and carried her to a nearby tree, where he administered some medicine. Princess Rou Jia continued by saying that he should first criticize the drawbacks of the current system in front of Liu Chen to make him take it seriously. She also promised to provide him with a list of her own people to place strategically in the court when the time was right.

Shen Jinghong wanted to carry the princess away, but she refused. He asked if she didn't want to return home, and only then did she allow him to carry her. When Mu Zhuohua woke up, she saw Liu Yan and asked him if he had been taking care of her all along. Liu Yan denied taking care of her and told her that it was Guo Juli who had been looking after her and had made the porridge she was holding. He put down the porridge and urged Mu Zhuohua to return to Dingjing. Mu Zhuohua asked if he wanted her to leave, and Liu Yan told her that he didn't want to see her, so she should leave. Mu Zhuohua didn't believe him.

She thought that if he didn't want to see her, why had he brought her back. Liu Yan told her that even for cats and dogs, he wouldn't let them get drenched in the rain. After hearing this, Mu Zhuohua cried sadly, and Liu Yan left. Zhi Jian told Liu Yan that Mu Zhuohua had already left, and when Liu Yan came out of the room, he indeed saw no trace of her. Just as he was about to leave, Mu Zhuohua appeared behind him, and she could see that Liu Yan was anxious. Liu Yan asked her why she had returned after leaving, and Mu Zhuohua had realized when she left that Liu Yan's illness had worsened. She believed that they could now walk forward side by side. Liu Yan told her that he was a dying man and not worth her time.

Mu Zhuohua told him that whether he was worth it or not was her decision to make, and he couldn't decide for her. She told Liu Yan that in the past, she had made decisions for herself, and from now on, she would protect him. The two of them shared a deep kiss under the setting sun. Mu Zhuohua checked Liu Yan's pulse, and Liu Yan told her not to waste her efforts. Medicine was of no use to him anymore; he was just clinging to life. Mu Zhuohua believed that acupuncture might still work and insisted on trying. Despite her best efforts, Liu Yan's condition did not improve. Mu Zhuohua still did not give up, and with the help of Zhao, the palace physician, they finally managed to neutralize the poison in Liu Yan's body.
