The henchman of the Chief Commander of the Imperial Guards, Little Yongzi, noticed Shen Xiuning conducting the examination and was worried that he might discover something. However, the Chief Commander coldly remarked that he could examine the body as long as it didn't interfere with their sacrificial ritual.
At that moment, the sacrificial ritual was underway. Grand Magus Wu held a sacred sword, burnt yellow talisman paper, and chanted incantations. Jiang Li realized that the villagers were playing for real, and she hadn't expected that this game could be a matter of life and death.
