Shi Ying learned that Zhu Yan had heard about his identity and deliberately sought her out. Shi Ying explained that his gesture of giving flowers to Jiuyi Mountain was merely an act of kindness, yet Zhu Yan trusted and believed in him when the whole country cursed and spat at him. She suffered injustices and nearly lost her life in order to bring him back to life. Now Zhu Yan continued to protect him at great risk and endured torment. Shi Ying never blamed Zhu Yan, and he kept his past identity hidden because it was too unbearable, and he didn't want Zhu Yan to suffer for him.

Zhu Yan also blamed herself for being fixated on her own obsession and never considering Shi Ying's feelings. She realized that Shi Ying's deep wounds were evident from his silence about the past, and even mastering the most powerful techniques couldn't heal his past hurts. Zhu Yan didn't know how to console her master, but Shi Ying believed that meeting Zhu Yan in this lifetime was the greatest consolation he could ask for. Zhu Yan had always wanted to repay the prince's favor, and now she was delighted to learn that the prince was still alive.

Shi Ying realized that he might actually have developed feelings for Zhu Yan. However, for Shi Ying to remove his divine robe, he would have to endure the torment of a myriad of catastrophes. Even if he survived the arduous ordeal, his spiritual power would be uncertain. Da Si Ming believed that although the myriad of catastrophes were difficult, Shi Ying was the highest among the generations of priests. As long as his true essence remained intact, his spiritual power combined with the medicines he had could heal him. To ensure Shi Ying's safety, Da Si Ming placed a curse on Zhu Yan's heart. If she ever harbored murderous intentions towards Shi Ying, the curse would bring her to her demise.

Lord Qing learned about the rumors circulating among the people that the former Young Prince was not dead and began to suspect that the Ice Clan was not wholeheartedly on their side. With various forces threatening, it was crucial for the Qing Clan to act quickly, and the alliance with the Bai Clan couldn't be delayed any longer. Concubine Qing didn't want to choose the weak and clumsy Bai Xueying. She summoned Bai Xuelu and proposed a marriage between her and Lord Shi Yu, and she would request the Emperor's approval to crown Shi Yu as the Young Prince.

Bai Xueying received a letter from Zhu Yan, asking if Bai Xuelu had tampered with the letters she sent to Zhu Yan. Bai Xuelu did not deny her actions and warned Bai Xueying not to meet Shi Yu again in the future, as Shi Yu was her future husband. Bai Xueying wondered why her sister would help Concubine Qing deal with the Young Prince. Bai Xuelu told her that she had seen through the fickleness of the world and people's calculations since birth. Everything she had achieved was fought for, and if she made one wrong step, she would never be able to hold her head up in this lifetime.

Lord Bai learned from Concubine Qing about the marriage between Bai Xuelu and Lord Shi Yu. He came to praise Bai Xuelu and showed no sympathy for the disheartened Bai Xueying. Bai Xuelu told Bai Xueying that she didn't intentionally compete with her for Lord Shi Yu, but all she wanted was to become the queen. Da Si Ming called for Chong Ming and instructed him to take care of the severely injured Shi Ying. He deliberately told Chong Ming that Shi Ying's calamity had already been averted, which made Chong Ming very happy. Chong Ming approached Zhu Yan and inquired whether Shi Ying had transformed when they were in the Cangwu Abyss. Zhu Yan was also puzzled that their kiss didn't trigger a transformation in Shi Ying. Chong Ming agreed with Da Si Ming's speculation that Shi Ying's calamity might have been resolved.

Zhu Yan received a letter from Bai Xueying, informing her of Bai Xuelu's manipulation of the letters and deceiving her to go to Nüluo Creek. She wanted to tell Shi Ying about this incident. However, when she attempted to visit her master, she was denied entry. Chong Ming went in to see Shi Ying and learned that the calamity had been resolved. He persuaded Shi Ying to remove his divine robe and return to the mortal world to be with Zhu Yan. Shi Ying believed that as long as he adhered to the rules, he could eliminate his distractions. But Chong Ming didn't want to see Shi Ying have regrets in this lifetime. Shi Ying threatened to sever their friendship, and Chong Ming left in anger.

Zhu Yan couldn't understand why Shi Ying refused to see her. She knelt in front of the door, begging to see him, and in the end, Shi Ying couldn't bear it and let her into the room. Zhu Yan informed him about Bai Xuelu's alteration of the letters and expressed her desire to go and see Xue Han Wei with Shi Ying. Shi Ying formally thanked Zhu Yan and reminded her to always remember that she was the disciple of the Young Prince of Jiuyi Mountain. He also advised her not to act willfully. Now that Zhu Yan had completed her training, their master-disciple bond had come to an end, and it was time for Zhu Yan to return home.

Zhu Yan didn't want to leave Jiuyi Mountain. She wanted to continue practicing with Shi Ying and stand together against their adversaries, advancing and retreating as teacher and disciple. Regardless of Shi Ying's decision, Zhu Yan declared that she would not leave her master. In the following days, Zhu Yan used fish soup to entice Chong Ming, hoping he would help persuade Shi Ying to stay. Meanwhile, a messenger arrived to report that Lord of Chi and his wife had come to Jiuyi Mountain. Zhu Yan was worried that her father and mother had come to take her home. Lord of Chi brought formal documents, intending to take his daughter down the mountain. Shi Ying would not stand in their way, and Da Si Ming agreed to let Lord of Chi take Zhu Yan down the mountain tomorrow.
