The Longest Promise Episode 25 Recap
> The Longest Promise Recap
Zhu Yan remembered the Fish Princess and her child whom she had encountered in the Baimian Peak. Now, she was trapped within the barrier and had to send Yu Fei to find the Fish Princess and her child. Zhu Yan didn't want to remain trapped and began practicing the spells from the magical book left by Shi Ying.
On their escape, Fish Princess learned about the Huotu tribe's rebellion and how the Grand Concubine used the lives of merfolk to practice dark magic. Su Mo believed that people from Kongsang were not good and urged her mother to leave the Huotu tribe as soon as possible. Yu Fei brought news to Zhu Yan that they hadn't found the Fish Princess and her child at Baimian Peak. Worried about their safety, Zhu Yan wanted to break the barrier and find them quickly.
Zhi Yuan intentionally allowed himself to be captured in Ancient Miang City, but he couldn't sense the presence of the Sea Emperor there. Witnessing the torment suffered by the merfolk, Zhi Yuan decided to rescue them. The High Wizard discovered the escape and tried to stop the merfolk, but Zhi Yuan protected them and led them to safety. However, he discovered that the High Wizard used soulless merfolk to attack him. Reluctant to harm his own people, Zhi Yuan chose to flee, but the soulless merfolk continued to pursue him. In a crucial moment, Shi Ying arrived and killed the soulless merfolk, saving Zhi Yuan.
Shi Ying believed that these merfolk no longer had souls, and instead of being manipulated while alive, it would be better to kill them and return them to the deep sea. Shi Ying revealed his identity as the Junior Lord of Jiuyi Mountain and mistakenly believed that Zhi Yuan was the Sea Emperor he was searching for. The High Wizard wanted to obtain the power of the Dark God Di Ba, which required sacrificing a hundred merfolk. He had struggled because he couldn't meet the conditions. However, after witnessing Shi Ying's ability to control numerous arrows in Huotu tribe, the High Wizard wanted to use Shi Ying's power to obtain the power of Di Ba. The High Wizard admitted that he served Concubine Qing and, under the pretense of assisting Shi Ying, wanted Shi Ying to hand over control of the Western Wilderness after his plan succeeded. Shi Ying scorned the offer and refused to agree to the High Wizard's conditions.
Shi Ying and Zhi Yuan joined forces to confront the High Wizard, engaging in a fierce battle that ended with the High Wizard's death. However, to their surprise, the High Wizard resurrected and the battle continued. Eventually, they managed to kill the High Wizard for good, but Shi Ying was unexpectedly hit by a gemstone from the High Wizard's staff. The gemstone contained the power of an ancient demon, causing Shi Ying to lose consciousness.
Chong Ming examined Shi Ying's injuries and explained that the gemstone's demonic power conflicted with Shi Ying's practice of the heavenly and earthly powers. The longer it remained in his body, the more damage it would cause, suppressing his spiritual energy. After handing Shi Ying over to Chong Ming, Zhi Yuan left, as he believed Zhi Yuan was the Sea Emperor. However, he thought that with Zhi Yuan's character, it would bring fortune, not harm, to Kongsang.
After two days of contemplation, Zhu Yan finally discovered the key to learning the spells in the book. She successfully mastered the spells and broke the barrier set by Shi Ying. Zhu Yan searched the Huotu tribe but couldn't find the Fish Princess and her child. She decided to return to Tianji Fengcheng with Yu Fei and the others.
Da Si Ming spread the news of Shi Ying suppressing the turmoil in the Huotu tribe, and Shi Ying knew that Da Si Ming wanted him to bring peace and return to Jialan. However, Shi Ying's goal wasn't to become the Heavenly Emperor; he wanted to quickly resolve the threat and return to Jiuyi Mountain. Zhi Yuan returned to the underground city of the merfolk but couldn't sense the Sea Emperor's whereabouts either. The elder of the merfolk told Zhi Yuan to retrieve the Bining Pearl from the bodies of the merfolk they had brought, but Zhi Yuan accused the elder of harming their own kind. The purpose of the Sea Kingdom's revival was to prevent the merfolk from being exploited, not to oppress innocent people. Zhi Yuan saved the merfolk and threatened the elder that he wouldn't show mercy if he continued to harm their own kind.
A sage arrived at the underground city and knew what the elder planned to do. He believed that inciting war was the prelude to a real war with Kongsang and thought the immediate task for the Sea Kingdom was to attack Tianji Fengcheng. Soon, the Sea Kingdom launched an attack on Tianji Fengcheng. Zhu Yan learned about the battle and intended to return to help her father. On her way, Zhu Yan discovered that the Sea Kingdom's forces had surrounded Xia City to seize provisions. She wanted to go and relieve Xia City but unexpectedly encountered her master and Chong Ming at a post station. In order to create distance between them, Shi Ying wanted to leave that night, but Zhu Yan realized his intentions and persuaded him not to worry about sharing the post station with her, as she would be leaving the next day. Zhu Yan unexpectedly discovered her master's suspicious behavior when she tried to stop him from noticing her injury. To prevent Zhu Yan from discovering the truth, Shi Ying reluctantly decided to stay at the post station.
That night, Shi Ying learned from Yu Fei that Zhu Yan had fainted and rushed to check on her, only to be trapped by Zhu Yan and have his pulse examined. Zhu Yan discovered that his spiritual power was stagnating and asked why he was injured. Chong Ming appeared to help Shi Ying explain the source and severity of his injuries, hoping that Zhu Yan would persuade Shi Ying to seek treatment from an old physician in Xia City. Shi Ying didn't want Zhu Yan to interfere and, instead of allowing Zhu Yan to directly remove the barrier, he suggested that they go to Xia City the next day to find the old physician. Shi Ying wanted to convince Chong Ming to remove the barrier, but Chong Ming prioritized treating Shi Ying's injury and naturally refused Shi Ying's request.
The next day, Zhu Yan used her techniques to restrain Shi Ying and took him to Xia City. Shi Ying was restricted in his movements and felt helpless. To facilitate Shi Ying's medication, Zhu Yan removed the silencing spell along the way.
