The Sea Kingdom's forces used a precious treasure of the Merfolk to capture Zhu Yan. Shi Ying wanted to rescue her, but his powers had not yet recovered, so he could only watch helplessly as the Sea Kingdom's forces took Zhu Yan and escaped underwater. Shi Ying wanted to forcefully drive away the evil energy and restore his powers by using his true essence, but the true essence was the foundation of cultivation, and using it recklessly could easily lead to demonic possession. Zhi Yuan sensed the presence of the Sea Emperor but unexpectedly discovered the destitute Fish Princess and her child. He suspected that one of them was the Sea Emperor. Just then, a Merfolk came to report that Zhu Yan had been captured, so Zhi Yuan hurried back to the underground city to rescue her.

When Zhi Yuan arrived at the underground city, he saw Elder Jian using the treasure to bind Zhu Yan. Elder Jian intended to threaten Zhi Yuan but was unaware that the Sea Kingdom's artifacts were all made by the Zhi clan. Zhi Yuan freed Zhu Yan and used the treasure to bind Elder Jian instead.

After restoring his powers, Shi Ying arrived at the Merfolk to demand the release of Zhu Yan. Zhi Yuan realized that now that the Sea Kingdom had declared war on the Chi Clan, he couldn't bring himself to reveal the connection between him and Zhu Yan from their past lives. Thus, he temporarily entrusted Zhu Yan to Shi Ying.

Shi Ying treated Zhu Yan's injuries, and when she woke up, she mistakenly believed that her master had saved her and used his true essence to do so. To prevent Zhu Yan from worrying, Shi Ying claimed that he had only consumed a red fruit to restore his powers. Zhi Yuan, who was observing from the side, saw how much Shi Ying cared about Zhu Yan and realized that he had arrived too late in this lifetime. Zhu Yan explained that Zhi Yuan had only recently returned to the Merfolk and that her abduction was orchestrated by Elder Jian, an elder of the Merfolk, with no connection to Zhi Yuan. Shi Ying couldn't understand why Zhi Yuan had concealed himself within the Chi Clan for so many years and why the Sea Kingdom's forces were so familiar with the terrain of the Tianji Fengcheng. At that moment, the Chi Clan's horn sounded, and Zhi Yuan hurriedly wanted to return to the Merfolk. He stated that he would address these questions at a later time. Zhu Yan believed in Zhi Yuan's character, and with her persuasion, Shi Ying agreed to let Zhi Yuan go and convince the Sea Kingdom's forces to withdraw.

Before leaving, Zhi Yuan hoped that Shi Ying would not let Zhu Yan be in danger again and entrusted her to him. He also stated that if Shi Ying put Zhu Yan in danger again, he would personally protect her.

Whoever had dragon patterns on their bodies at that time would be the Sea Emperor. Zhi Yuan asked about Ruyi's well-being in recent years and learned that the person who had caused the division among his siblings had died, and the person he had loved had also died two hundred years ago. In order to protect Sumo, the Fish Princess was brutally killed, and in her grief and anger, Sumo revealed the power of the Sea Emperor. Recognizing Sumo's identity, he led the Sea Emperor's forces to confront the Kongsang troops, causing them to turn against each other. Zhi Yuan sensed the Sea Emperor and rushed to rescue Sumo. Dragon patterns appeared on both of them, confirming that Sumo was indeed the Sea Emperor.
