Shi Yu explained that he got injured while exploring the hunting ground after receiving a message from his mother. Concubine Qing did not blame him and allowed Shi Ying, the Young Commandant, to visit him. Shi Ying used his spiritual power to help Shi Yu with his injuries and gifted him a spiritual bead to ease the pain. Shi Ying exposed Shi Yu's lie about not wanting to stay in the military camp, and Shi Yu finally admitted that he wanted Shi Ying to handle the troop withdrawal on his behalf. Now that Shi Yu's injury was real and the troop withdrawal concerned Kongsang, Shi Ying agreed to Shi Yu's request.

Concubine Qing visited again and asked Shi Ying to help feed the medicine to Shi Yu. Unbeknownst to Shi Yu, she had put a poison that only affected those with spiritual power in the bowl. When Shi Yu insisted on drinking it himself, Concubine Qing hurriedly stopped him. Shi Ying noticed the problem, knocked over the bowl, and revealed the poison. He then confronted Concubine Qing, who attempted to shift the blame onto the servant girl who brought the medicine. The servant girl, fearing for her family's safety due to Concubine Qing's threats, tragically took her own life by swallowing the broken pieces of the bowl.

Zhu Yan couldn't understand why Shi Ying wanted to take off his god robe. She knew he was not interested in power and wealth, but she thought that the Young Commandant was willing to sacrifice himself for the people. They were all worried that if the Ice Clan repeated their actions, the Young Commandant would be the one to deal with it. Although Shi Ying's decision to handle the troop withdrawal had the approval of the King of Bei Mian, he planned to return the military power to Shi Yu after his recovery. This decision wasn't accepted by the King of Bei Mian, who believed that Shi Ying's accomplishments would be remembered in history. However, Shi Ying didn't care about leaving a legacy; he only cared about fulfilling his responsibilities to heaven, earth, the people, and his bloodline, as his mother had taught him.

Shi Yu wanted to give up his position as the Crown Prince to Shi Ying and leave with Bai Xueying. Zhu Yan disagreed with their decision. Shi Yu was worried that if he didn't leave with Concubine Qing, she would harm Shi Ying, and he didn't want to betray the people of Kongsang or Bai Xueying.

Shi Ying arranged for Bai Fenglin to lead the Ye City army to immediately withdraw, but Bai Fenglin refused to obey the order, claiming that he didn't trust Shi Ying. To make Bai Fenglin acknowledge his abilities, Shi Ying used the merfolk water-controlling technique to teach him a lesson and forced him to comply with the troop withdrawal.

Zhu Yan went to visit Shi Ying and encountered the King of Bei Mian on the way. The King of Bei Mian told her not to disturb Shi Ying, who was busy with the troop withdrawal, but he surprisingly allowed Bai Xuelu to bring tea to Shi Ying. Zhu Yan didn't understand why Bai Xuelu could disturb Shi Ying when she couldn't. The King of Bei Mian explained that in the future, when Shi Ying returns as the Crown Prince and inherits the throne, he will have to marry the Princess of the Bai Clan according to tradition. He showed Zhu Yan how well Shi Ying and Bai Xuelu got along and believed that they were meant for each other. The King of Bei Mian asked Zhu Yan to consider the big picture and not disturb Shi Ying in the future.

Feeling misunderstood and upset about the relationship between Shi Ying and Bai Xuelu, Zhu Yan left the White Residence in tears.

Qing Gang advised Bai Xuelu that Shi Ying did not have feelings for her. However, Bai Xuelu believed that since she had chosen this path, she had anticipated everything, and she didn't want to degrade herself in front of Qing Gang. Later, Zhu Yan accidentally bumped into a servant girl carrying food, and Shi Ying heard the noise and followed her out of the White Residence. Zhu Yan hid her initial intention of visiting the White Residence and didn't want to disturb Shi Ying again. Shi Ying planned to take Zhu Yan out to shop the next day and express his feelings to her.

The King of Bei Mian overheard Shi Ying's arrangement to meet Zhu Yan and Bai Xuelu's response. Bai Xuelu, although not intending to sabotage them, decided to intervene to secure her position as the future queen. She warned Zhu Yan that she and Shi Ying were only master and disciple, and she should follow the rules and show respect. Zhu Yan didn't get angry because of Bai Xuelu's warning, but she asked her to treat Shi Ying well.

Zhu Yan learned that Shi Ying would return to Kongsang and become the future king, Bai Xuelu's husband. She felt sad about it. Su Mo came to comfort her and gave her candy. Su Mo admired Zhu Yan's masterful skills in magic, and Zhu Yan appreciated the compliment.

Zhu Yan went to meet Shi Ying as agreed. This time, Shi Ying arranged for a shadow puppet show to be performed for them. He specifically asked the puppeteer to show the love story of the Star Sovereign and Empress Bai Wei. Zhu Yan learned about the tradition where the future kings had to marry princesses from the Bai Clan due to the oath between the Star Sovereign Emperor and Empress Bai Wei. Shi Ying tried to use this show to express his feelings to Zhu Yan, but she misunderstood and thought that he would marry Bai Xuelu after taking off his god robe.

After watching the shadow puppet show, Shi Ying pretended not to understand women's thoughts and asked Zhu Yan to help him pick accessories. Zhu Yan mistakenly believed that Shi Ying wanted her to help pick accessories for Bai Xuelu and chose a pendant suitable for love. She was still struggling to accept the idea of Shi Ying being with Bai Xuelu and left hastily, claiming that there was something urgent at home.

Bai Xuelu intentionally bought the pendant that Shi Ying had chosen and showed it to Zhu Yan. Zhu Yan misunderstood and thought that Shi Ying had already given the pendant to Bai Xuelu. Bai Xuelu warned Zhu Yan that she and Shi Ying were just master and disciple, and she should follow the rules. Zhu Yan wasn't angry about the warning and only requested that Bai Xuelu treat Shi Ying well.
