> The Longest Promise Recap

Zhu Yan knew that she was the calamity daughter of Shi Ying. She didn't want to witness Shi Ying's death again and promised to leave the mountain after his soul returned. The next day, when Shi Ying woke up, he indeed didn't recognize Zhu Yan, and his memories were stuck before the birthday banquet. He couldn't understand why he was on Jiuyi Mountain. Zhu Yan handed him the secret letter left by Da Si Ming, and Shi Ying learned that his memory was confused due to injuries sustained while ending the rebellion in the Sea Nation, and Zhu Yan was there to care for him as a maid.

Zhu Yan found that she had started to show the after-effects of the Middle Yin Qi. She was losing her sense of touch among the Five Senses. When Shi Ying saw Zhu Yan scalding her hand with hot water, he came with ointment to apply on her hand, puzzled as to how he knew where the ointment was. Zhu Yan explained that Shi Ying often stayed on Jiuyi Mountain, and so his belongings were kept here. To prevent Shi Ying from suspecting his lost memories, Zhu Yan had to stay close to him. She helped him bathe but clumsily raised Shi Ying's suspicion, as he believed he wouldn't have such a clumsy maid in the palace. He felt that there was more than a simple master-servant relationship between them and asked Zhu Yan who she really was. Sensing the change in his soul fire, Zhu Yan had no choice but to admit to the past misdeeds she had done to Shi Ying and rushed to take care of him after learning about his injury.

Upon seeing the revived Shi Ying, Chong Ming was very happy. Zhu Yan was worried that Chong Ming might trigger Shi Ying's memory confusion, so she said that Shi Ying and Chong Ming had some prior connection on the mountain. Shi Ying wanted to return to Jia Lan, and Zhu Yan had to use Da Si Ming as an excuse to delay him and let him rest in the mountain until Da Si Ming returned.

Shi Ying saw that the people in the mountain were familiar with Zhu Yan, and though he didn't remember what Zhu Yan had done to him before, he believed she wasn't a malicious person. Zhu Yan told him that he didn't need her care anymore and could leave the mountain. But Shi Ying, without his memories and magic, was not familiar with the terrain of the mountain, so he asked Zhu Yan to stay and take care of him. Zhu Yan took him to the Imperial Valley to worship their ancestors, but fearing that he would see Empress Bai Yan's tomb, she tried to persuade him to leave Jiuyi Mountain according to the mountain rules.

Seeing Shi Ying's sadness, Zhu Yan knew that he wouldn't be able to see the late Empress again in his life. So she transformed into the appearance of Empress Bai Yan to meet Shi Ying, who urged him to rest and recover in the mountain. Bai Yan then disappeared before him, and Zhu Yan explained that she had used a magical technique to deliver a message for Empress Bai Yan, and what he saw was a message from her.

Before going to sleep, Shi Ying mentioned his favorite Snow Wei Cake to Zhu Yan, and she decided to use the Jade Bone to get some Snow Cold Wei and make Snow Wei Cake for him. After spending a day with Shi Ying, she realized that he didn't have any aversion to her, and she was grateful for these three days spent with him. She decided to make one last meal for him to not let him down. Zhu Yan tasted the seasonings one by one, successfully distinguishing them, and prepared a delicious meal for Shi Ying. Due to tasting the seasonings, Zhu Yan's voice became hoarse, and Shi Ying was deeply concerned. Although Zhu Yan repeatedly claimed her guilt, Shi Ying's heart told him that no matter what mistakes she made, he would not hold it against her. Shi Ying asked Zhu Yan to join him for the meal, and she had to accompany him to enjoy the food together.
