The Rise of Ning Episode 32 Recap
> The Rise of Ning Recap
The Duke of Ying went to apologize to his mother, explaining that Luo Yining was concerned about the grandmother who had raised her and so had gone to the Luo residence. The Dowager felt that Luo Yining was a bit stubborn, but the Duke admitted he had missed out on much of his duty to his daughter growing up and that she needed time to adjust.
Since Luo Yining was the legitimate daughter of the Duke of Ying's household, Madam Han was willing to show understanding. During the New Year's Eve dinner, Luo Shenyuan respectfully served Luo Chengzhang more food and expressed his gratitude, saying that no matter his future rank, he would always remember his place and his father’s kindness.
Luo Chengzhang advised him to let go of his former teacher's case, and while Luo Shenyuan appreciated the concern, he quickly changed the topic when Teacher Sun inquired about his marriage plans. After dinner, Luo Shenyuan went for a walk outside with his servant, wandering to Yanrong Pavilion, where Luo Yining had once prepared a place for him to stay. Luo Shenyuan had just arrived there when he saw Luo Yining.
Their eyes met, and Luo Shenyuan immediately sensed that she had been wronged at the Duke’s household. With reddened eyes, Luo Yining rushed into his embrace. Luo Yining confided that ever since she had become the Duke's daughter, she no longer felt at home in the Luo residence, nor did the Duke’s household feel familiar. It was as though she no longer belonged anywhere.
Luo Shenyuan, deeply moved, unhesitatingly offered her a home with him, then was about to profess his affection. Sensing what he was about to say, Luo Yining quickly covered his mouth to stop him. At dawn, Luo Yining prepared to go to the Luo residence to pay New Year’s respects with her maid, only to find Lu Jiaxue standing at the door. Snow had accumulated thickly on his clothes, showing he had waited there for a long time.
Ever since finding Miss Meimei, each meeting with Luo Yining had brought a smile to his face. He spoke of recalling the times they had spent together each year at New Year’s Eve and keeping watch with her through the night, but Luo Yining showed no interest, simply advising him to forget everything that had happened between them and then left with her maid. Later, Luo Yining went to pay respects to Lady Han at the Duke’s residence.
Lady Han asked if she had thought about closing her shop, to which Luo Yining thoughtfully replied that she didn’t want to live her life dependent on others like most women—first relying on parents and later on men. She wanted to support herself with her own abilities. Lady Han, pleased by her answer, admired Luo Yining’s spirit, recalling how she herself once fought alongside men in battle with a spear and shared Luo Yining's outlook.
After some consideration, Luo Yining decided to move back to the Duke's residence. The Duke was thrilled and arranged for a private tutor for her. The renowned tutor he contacted recommended his star pupil, who turned out to be none other than Luo Shenyuan. Overjoyed to have the chance to study with Luo Shenyuan again, Luo Yining could hardly contain her excitement.
That day, Luo Shenyuan spotted Lu Jiaxue at the Duke’s residence and, concerned that he might pressure Luo Yining into marriage, took the initiative to confess. He revealed that he had long known they were not true siblings and that his feelings for her went beyond that of a brother. With the upcoming Flower Festival, Madam Han decided to host it at the Duke’s residence.
Jealous of Luo Yining’s success in winning her grandmother’s affection, Zhao Mingzhu lured her to Lu Jiaxue’s residence, claiming they could pick flowers for the occasion. Initially, Luo Yining intended to make an excuse to leave, but when Lu Jiaxue's servant approached to say he was not home, she let her guard down.
