Chu Kong and Xiangyun rescued Zi Hui on their way. Zi Hui took a blow for them from Jin Luo and regained his memories. With the truth revealed, he felt both love and hatred towards Jin Luo. As the great battle approached, Chu Kong and Xiangyun shared a drink under the moon. Though Xiangyun was reluctant, they knew they had to bear their responsibilities in the face of the impending battle and the greater cause. Xiangyun urged Chu Kong to come back alive.

Xiangyun brought the Empress Dowager to the Grand Nation Temple to pray. Xinran, working as a spy for the nation, intended to assassinate the Empress Dowager. Little did Xinran know that Xiangyun was well aware of her plan. Xiangyun used a diversionary tactic to save the Empress Dowager and managed to apprehend Xinran. However, Xiangyun was injured in the process. The Empress Dowager and the Emperor reconciled their relationship, and Xiangyun received the two jade pendants she had been seeking, along with the clues left behind by Li Tianwang.

Xiangyun understood the responsibility Chu Kong carried to protect the world. In order to allow Chu Kong to recover his spiritual essence before her, she chose to leave first, ensuring that she would die before him. On the other side, even though Chu Kong won the war, he perished on the battlefield. Love and duty transcended gender boundaries, as both the princess and the general bore the responsibility of defending their home and country. Together, they returned to the heavens.
