Unexpectedly, the truth-telling water contains the "He Huan San" medicine. Chu Kong endures the discomfort while Xiangyun feels heartbroken. Chu Kong discovers that it was Zi Hui who slaughtered the Golden Core demons in the demon realm. Zi Hui breaks into the Changning Hall to help Haoxuan at the cost of his life, in exchange for the antidote for Jin Luo. Xiangyun tends to Chu Kong's injuries and within his sea of consciousness, she witnesses the truth behind Chu Kong pretending not to recognize her. Chu Kong tells Xiangyun that he must sever emotional ties to pass the elder's test and cultivate the power of the Demon King. Only then can he retrieve Cang Hai's power from the Boundless Realm. He doesn't want to see Xiangyun heartbroken again. Haoxuan obtains the last Golden Core demon. Zi Hui retrieves the antidote and saves Jin Luo.
