Qing Geng attempted to use magic to control Zhuo Yichen to kill Zhao Yuanzhou for him, but Zhuo Yichen's will was strong, and he was not deceived at all. The Demon Hunting Team traveled from the coffin to Lingxi Villa, where they found many corpses lying on the ground. Bai Jiu stumbled and shouted in fright. Zhao Yuanzhou noticed a bell hanging from the roof of a nearby hut, which was the source of the illusion.

Pei Sijing drew her bow and shot it down, breaking the illusion and indirectly informing Qing Geng that the Demon Hunting Team had arrived. The group's biggest concern was Zhuo Yichen's safety, but Zhao Yuanzhou suggested that Zhuo Yichen might have intentionally allowed himself to be captured to gather more clues. Ying Lei, with his keen senses, entered a thatched house along the way. Inside, he found several prescription notes, which Bai Jiu identified as for clearing pestilence and detoxifying.

Just as he was analyzing the notes, a bloodied face suddenly appeared before them. Wen Xiao and Bai Jiu were so startled they embraced each other. Moments later, everything vanished, and when Bai Jiu managed to calm down, he saw the previously appeared face standing behind Wen Xiao. Qing Geng informed Zhuo Yichen that the Demon Hunting Team had arrived and lit a rhinoceros horn incense to disturb Zhuo Yichen's emotions.

Zhuo Yichen asked why Qing Geng was so eager to obtain Zhao Yuanzhou's inner core. Qing Geng replied that he yearned for freedom. As the incense burned continuously, it absorbed the surrounding negative energy, causing Zhuo Yichen to gradually sink into memories of his family's murder, stirring feelings of hatred. Wen Xiao recognized the demon before her, named Fei, who always brought pestilence when it appeared. However, Fei was surprisingly calm and did not seem like a harbinger of disaster.

Fei also informed them of Zhuo Yichen's whereabouts. Following Fei into a secret chamber, they found a portrait of a goddess. Ying Lei recognized the woman in the portrait as a minor demon from the desolate wilderness who liked to present herself as a goddess. She held a red string, likely to ward off the plague. Wen Xiao figured that since Qing Geng liked to act like a goddess, they should indulge him, so she bowed down to pay her respects.

Behind the portrait, a stone door opened. As Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao entered, the door immediately shut behind them. Pei Sijing hurried to kneel before the portrait and noticed red spots appearing on her hands, indicating she had likely contracted the plague. After taking a few steps, Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao found Zhuo Yichen wielding the Yunguang Sword, who immediately lunged at Zhao Yuanzhou without a word.

They fought briefly, and Zhao Yuanzhou realized Zhuo Yichen was completely consumed by negative energy. He tried to awaken him with his magic, but was interrupted by Zhuo Yichen, causing Zhao Yuanzhou to lose energy and spit blood. Wen Xiao also felt weakened. Qing Geng appeared slowly, further inciting Zhuo Yichen to seek revenge immediately. Taking advantage of Qing Geng's moment of power, Zhao Yuanzhou asked why he was urging Zhuo Yichen to kill him.

Qing Geng explained that he wanted Zhao Yuanzhou's inner core to break the seal and free himself from Lingxi Villa. Zhuo Yichen stepped closer to Zhao Yuanzhou and surprisingly reached out to help him up. Qing Geng realized that the two were acting together and that Zhao Yuanzhou had already dispelled Zhuo Yichen's negative energy. Realizing Qing Geng's true intentions, Zhao Yuanzhou further lured him to reveal his backer. Just then, Wen Xiao suddenly collapsed.

As they turned to look at her, Qing Geng prepared to flee, but Zhuo Yichen drew his Yunguang Sword and stabbed at Qing Geng. Fei reappeared just in time to rescue Qing Geng from under Zhuo Yichen's sword. Zhao Yuanzhou noticed red spots forming on Wen Xiao's neck and that she was burning up with fever. Soon after, he noticed red spots appearing on his own hands, and before he could think, Zhuo Yichen collapsed next to him.

Pei Sijing was still suffering from a high fever before the portrait, while Bai Jiu and Ying Lei were at a loss when they saw Fei bringing out the injured Qing Geng. Fei wanted to apply medicine to Qing Geng, but he refused to let Fei approach him. Bai Jiu identified himself as a doctor, snatched the medicine tray, and treated Qing Geng. Qing Geng, touched by this, explained the reasons behind his entrapment in Lingxi Villa.

For a long time, Qing Geng had lived in Lingxi Villa, protecting the people and receiving offerings. Then Fei unexpectedly arrived, bringing pestilence to the town, causing the villagers to slander Qing Geng. When the Baize goddess passed by and learned that Qing Geng could restrain Fei from spreading the plague, she sealed both of them in Lingxi Villa. They would only be released when someone informed them that obtaining Zhao Yuanzhou's inner core would break the seal.

This prompted Qing Geng to target the Demon Hunting Team. Zhao Yuanzhou guessed that the instigator was Li Lun and used his demonic power to heal Qing Geng. As he watched Qing Geng gradually recover, Fei also felt reassured and began to recount their past.
