> Fangs of Fortune Recap

Because of the fear of spreading the plague, Fei hid in a cave to live. This inherent curse made Fei feel lonely, so he began to wander around the town. The first person he encountered was Qing Geng. As they gradually became familiar, Fei couldn’t resist going out often, and ultimately brought the plague to the town. After being discovered by the Baize goddess and sealed away, Fei felt guilty toward Qing Geng.

Now that Zhao Yuanzhou had saved Qing Geng, Fei was willing to exchange his own lifespan. He used his inner core to completely disappear from the universe. When Qing Geng slowly awoke, he found only a bell on the ground, realizing the price Fei had paid for him. Although he said he was happy to regain his freedom, when Qing Geng held the bell close, tears streamed down silently, expressing his feelings for Fei.

Zhao Yuanzhou realized that Qing Geng was not cold-hearted. The mark behind his ear clearly indicated that Li Lun had possessed him. Zhao Yuanzhou proposed to burn away the negative energy that Li Lun had placed inside Qing Geng. Each time the possession was destroyed, it would shorten Li Lun's lifespan and consume his power. Zhuo Yichen recalled that Qing Geng had mentioned the rhinoceros horn incense, understanding that it was meant to confuse Qing Geng.

After the possession was removed, Qing Geng finally regained his original kindness. The annual blessing festival was about to take place in Sinan Water Town. Qing Geng remembered his first meeting with Fei, which also occurred during the same event. Back then, while he was busy hanging lanterns on a high platform, he accidentally fell. Fei helped him hang the bell, and they soon became friends. Fei revealed his background, and Qing Geng felt pity for him.

As the plague broke out in the water town, Qing Geng volunteered to have the Baize goddess seal him and Fei in Lingxi Villa. From then on, they worked together, cared for each other, and enjoyed the richness of time—until one day when Li Lun came knocking. Li Lun granted Qing Geng a pair of true-seeing eyes to break illusions, continuously increasing the gap between Qing Geng's goddess status and Fei's situation.

He falsely accused the Baize goddess of painting a rosy picture, step by step instilling negative energy into Qing Geng. To avoid implicating Fei, Qing Geng deliberately distanced himself, but he never got the chance to explain before Fei vanished forever. Wen Xiao comforted Qing Geng, saying he shouldn’t blame himself; the true culprit was Li Lun. Just as she was speaking, Pei Sijing suddenly collapsed to the ground, and the red spots on everyone’s bodies had not faded.

Qing Geng explained that the plague spread by Fei couldn’t be completely cured. Bai Jiu was unwilling to accept this and vowed to create an antidote. Zhao Yuanzhou, Zhuo Yichen, and Wen Xiao sat together chatting. Wen Xiao asked Zhao Yuanzhou if he would die from the plague. Zhao Yuanzhou replied that he wouldn't lose his life but felt miserable from being half-alive.

Zhuo Yichen recalled that Qing Geng had used the Qinyuan Poison Needle, developed years ago by the Chongwu Camp, indicating that Li Lun had already colluded with them. Bai Jiu brought out the prepared herbs. Zhao Yuanzhou tried to drink it, but it had no healing effect. Wen Xiao remembered that Qing Geng had mentioned he was constantly trying to formulate an antidote but felt something essential was missing to merge the medicinal powers.

Bai Jiu recalled an ancient text that described the trees where Qing Geng's bird resided, so he used the bark to create the herbal catalyst, which immediately took effect. After everyone was healed, Wen Xiao and Zhao Yuanzhou used the Baize Order to lift the seal on Qing Geng, acknowledging that Qing Geng was inherently good and had acted foolishly under Li Lun’s influence, so they wouldn’t hold him accountable. However, Qing Geng seemed no longer eager to leave.

Zhao Yuanzhou offered him a piece of Ran's scale, saying that if he wished, he could immerse himself in dreams. Seeing the century-old dead tree that dispelled the plague reminded Bai Jiu of her mother, who had been harmed by a tree demon. Zhuo Yichen offered some comforting words, noticing that Bai Jiu was still afraid. Once they reached the desolate wilderness, she feared it would be filled with demons and evils. Bai Jiu stated that as long as she was by Zhuo Yichen's side, she felt courageous.
