Ying Zhao informed them that the star formation required the assistance of two mountain gods. At that time, he and Zhu Yin would cast spells, while Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao only needed to activate the Baize Order within the formation. Pei Sijing left the group, and Wen Xiao quietly followed her, asking what her plans were. After all, the demon-hunting team’s whereabouts had been grasped by Chongwu Camp.

Pei Sijing explained that Chongwu Camp had unique methods for tracking demons and might have been following Zhao Yuanzhou without them knowing. To ensure safety, she would first patrol the area to see if anything seemed off. Ying Lei expressed his admiration for his grandfather’s centuries-long guardianship of the wilderness. Ying Zhao explained that to become a mountain god, one must have a strong determination to protect the wilderness.

Zhuo Yichen cheered up Bai Jiu, offering him some fruit as a token of goodwill. Zhao Yuanzhou appeared anxious, and Wen Xiao noticed. She asked him what was troubling him. Zhao Yuanzhou explained that the next day would be Blood Moon Night, a time when he was most susceptible to losing control. Many of his previous unavoidable actions had occurred during such nights, when negative emotions were most likely to backfire.

Worried about losing control again during Blood Moon Night, Zhao Yuanzhou told Wen Xiao that if anything went wrong, she should use the Baize Order to kill him, which had been his wish for many years. Wen Xiao suggested first activating the star formation and then returning the Baize Order to Zhao Yuanzhou’s body to prevent him from losing control. Zhao Yuanzhou realized that Wen Xiao always empathized with demons, and a sudden pain struck him.

Having previously signed a contract to maintain their professional relationship, the thought of becoming lovers now meant sometimes facing the consequences of breaking that contract. Despite Zhao Yuanzhou often claiming he wanted to end his life, he actually cherished the wilderness more than anyone, especially since meeting Wen Xiao made him value life even more. That night, Zhuo Yichen practiced swordsmanship alone.

Zhao Yuanzhou approached him and shared sword techniques used in ancient times to slay the Dragon of Ice, capable of killing all demons, including himself. Zhuo Yichen noticed a change in Zhao Yuanzhou’s mindset. When he had asked Zhuo Yichen to kill him in the dungeon, his eyes had been dull and lifeless, clearly seeking death. Now, saying the same thing, there was a hint of attachment to the world.

Having spent so much time together, Zhuo Yichen had already noticed the bond between Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao. Yet, since he had sworn an oath to kill Zhao Yuanzhou for revenge, he asked if Zhao Yuanzhou would regret it then. Zhao Yuanzhou said he wouldn’t and urged Zhuo Yichen to protect Wen Xiao in case anything went wrong the next day, insisting that he wanted to live well.

Pei Sijing met with a figure in black, and Bai Jiu unexpectedly discovered them. Bai Jiu accidentally stepped on a twig, alerting Pei Sijing. The next day, as they prepared their spells, Zhuo Yichen and Ying Lei guarded the entrance to the Qian Kun Gate but did not see Bai Jiu and assumed he was with Pei Sijing. Ying Zhao and Zhu Yin began their spell, helping Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao activate the star formation.

Just as they started to channel their energy, Zhu Yin withdrew, and Ying Zhao realized that his companion was actually a spy aiming to destroy the wilderness. The figure in black led several subordinates to forcibly break into the Qian Kun Gate. Zhuo Yichen and Ying Lei defended the entrance while casting their spells, inevitably leading to a fierce battle.

The two discovered that their opponents were not soldiers from Chongwu Camp, but demons from the wilderness: Heng Gongyu and Zheng, both invulnerable and vicious. Wen Xiao questioned Zhu Yin about why he had betrayed the wilderness. At that moment, Li Lun appeared beside Zhu Yin through possession, stating that they shared a common goal: to eliminate the barriers and allow free passage between the human and demon realms.
