Wen Xiao lifted the seal on Princess Longyu and brought Zhao Yuanzhou along to meet her. They learned that Princess Longyu had a difficult personality, especially disliking human contact, particularly with men. As a precaution, Zhuo Yichen and the others were told to hide in the White Emperor Tower. To stay safe, Zhao Yuanzhou and Zhuo Yichen communicated through a long-distance telepathic link.

Before entering the cave, Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao exchanged flirtatious remarks, which Ying Lei overheard and teased them about. Upon meeting Princess Longyu, Wen Xiao explained their purpose. Princess Longyu mentioned that this was the third group to request her dragon scales. It turned out that Li Lun had arrived earlier. She explained that the dragon scales could not be taken by force; if stolen, they would lose their power.

Only by voluntary giving them could they be used to revive all things. Following this, Wen Zongyu sent a message to Princess Longyu through Zhen Mei, with the letter signed by Meng Xuan. When Princess Longyu inquired about the letter's source, Zhen Mei replied that it required Zhao Yuanzhou's inner dan in exchange. Wen Xiao and Zhao Yuanzhou were the third group to seek the dragon scales.

When Princess Longyu asked what the scales would be used for, Wen Xiao explained that they were needed to detoxify her, so she could remain with Zhao Yuanzhou. Witnessing Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao's unshakable love, Princess Longyu remembered Meng Xuan. Back then, they had fallen in love at first sight and planned to be together forever.

However, when Meng Xuan's wife was diagnosed with an incurable disease, Meng Xuan had deliberately gotten close to Princess Longyu to obtain the reverse scale on her neck. Princess Longyu had been furious and jealous of Meng Xuan's wife, and had secretly invited Meng Xuan to meet her outside the city, where she placed a deadly poison, "dissolving bone incense," in his home.

However, Meng Xuan did not show up and went straight home, where Wen Xiao's father tragically died from inhaling the incense that same day. Although Princess Longyu owed Wen Xiao a life, she remained unyielding and insisted that the dragon scales could only be exchanged for Zhao Yuanzhou's inner dan. Zhao Yuanzhou didn't want to force Zhuo Yichen into a difficult decision, so he decided to offer his inner dan.

However, Zhuo Yichen disagreed, while Ying Lei felt saving Bai Jiu was more important. Wen Xiao, on the other hand, disagreed, saying Zhao Yuanzhou also deserved to be loved. Zhuo Yichen recalled how Bai Jiu always sought his help when frightened, feeling conflicted inside. Pei Sijing also leaned towards saving Bai Jiu. Zhao Yuanzhou understood that Zhuo Yichen could not bear to harm him, so he resolutely took his inner dan. Princess Longyu, as agreed, gave them the dragon scales.

In exchange, she then met with Wen Zongyu, who turned out to be Meng Xuan from that time. Wen Zongyu showed no regard for their past bond and aimed to kill Princess Longyu to avenge his wife. Pei Sijing shot an arrow to save Princess Longyu, and only then did Wen Zongyu realize that the Demon Hunting Team had secretly conspired with Princess Longyu to deceive him.

Zhao Yuanzhou had never taken his inner dan but had instead substituted it with a fake one. Princess Longyu had poisoned the fake inner dan with a lethal toxin. Zhao Yuanzhou and the others overheard the conversation between Princess Longyu and Wen Zongyu and decided not to act hastily.

They planned to wait and see what Wen Zongyu's next move would be. After Wen Zongyu left, Princess Longyu's soul dissipated, and she returned to the Great Wasteland forever. Wen Xiao lamented the unfairness and impermanence of fate. Since meeting Zhao Yuanzhou, she had experienced so much. Zhao Yuanzhou's protection of both humans and demons deeply moved Wen Xiao, and she urged him not to contemplate ending his life. Together, they should live courageously to protect the Great Wasteland.

As emotions deepened, Zhao Yuanzhou couldn't resist kissing Wen Xiao. Li Lun had been poisoned too deeply and was growing weaker, which pained Ao Yin. He vowed to get the dragon scales to cure Li Lun's poison. Zhuo Yichen was angry at being deceived by Wen Xiao and Zhao Yuanzhou’s pretense of taking the inner dan. Wen Xiao handed over the dragon scales to apologize.

Zhao Yuanzhou said that no one in the Demon Hunting Team knew how to repair the Cloudlight Sword. It would be better to wait until Bai Yan arrived to open the dragon scales. Ying Lei volunteered to guard the dragon scales, but Zhao Yuanzhou was still worried that Li Lun might try to steal them, so he placed a magical seal on the scales that only he could break.

As expected, Ao Yin transformed into Zhuo Yichen's form and attempted to steal the dragon scales. Although Ying Lei saw through the ruse, he couldn't stop Ao Yin and could only watch as the dragon scales were taken. Zhao Yuanzhou was preparing to consult Bai Yan about the dragon scales when he realized that Ying Lei was missing. Suspecting that Ao Yin had stolen the dragon scales, Zhao Yuanzhou prepared to rescue Ying Lei. However, Zhuo Yichen suddenly pointed his sword at Zhao Yuanzhou, accusing him of deceiving the Demon Hunting Team.
