The Story of Pearl Girl Episode 19 Recap
> The Story of Pearl Girl Recap
Kang Ju dragged a near-death Yan Zijing away. At dawn, Duan Wu crawled out of the ruins and, still in great pain, saw Xiao Xiami lying motionless beside her. Nearby lay the bodies of Xiang Zai and Cao Da, her comrades. In one night, everything had changed. Duan Wu moved her family and friends’ bodies aside and personally set fire to a straw pile.
Seeing so many friends perish, yet not finding Kang Ju and Yan Zijing among them, she was confused about what had truly happened. The troops led by Zhang Jinran heard that Li Longdao hadn’t followed the expected plan and instead ambushed Langhuanwu. Zhang Jinran hurried over and learned that everyone in Yan Zijing’s caravan had died in battle, with both Duan Wu and Yan Zijing missing. He immediately ordered reinforcements and set out to search the area himself.
Alone, Duan Wu stumbled out of the desert, fainting along the way but eventually being saved by nomads. After learning of her situation, Kang Ju worried that his presence would attract Li Longdao’s attention, so he returned to report to Yan Zijing. Yan Zijing was in an even worse condition than Duan Wu. Hearing she had been saved, he finally felt relieved.
Though he wanted to see her immediately, he hesitated; with the Blood Pearl still in his possession and Li Longdao’s men searching for him, bringing her would surely endanger her. With a heavy heart, he turned back. Yan Zijing felt his life ticking away, with no hope of an antidote after the witch doctor’s death. Even if Duan Wu misunderstood him, as long as she could live a healthy life, he would be content.
Yan Zijing instructed Kang Ju to spread the word that the Blood Pearl was with him, ensuring Duan Wu’s safety. When Duan Wu regained consciousness, she found a lively crowd outside the tent. Remembering her recently lost brother and friends, she couldn’t hold back her tears. Once her strength had somewhat returned, she placed her only piece of jewelry on the bed as payment for the nomads’ kindness, took some food, and set off alone.
Yue Yunxiu was plagued by nightmares, fearing that Duan Wu was in danger. With Zhang Jinran still on his mission, she grew anxious and decided to head to the desert alone with only some water. Duan Wu traveled through wind and snow, enduring hardship with a single thought in mind: to find Yan Zijing and ask him what truly happened that night. Along the way, she changed her name to "Su Muzhe.
" After a long journey, she arrived at a remote inn in the wilderness. The inn was desolate and disordered. Sensing something was amiss when the innkeeper gave her a suspicious look, she kept her guard up. That night, she heard the innkeeper return, bringing a burlap sack containing a person. In the middle of the night, Duan Wu heard cries for help from a room downstairs.
Summoning her courage, she took a dagger and went to investigate, unexpectedly rescuing Yue Yunxiu. Both were overwhelmed with emotion upon seeing each other. Yue Yunxiu, crying, asked Duan Wu where she had been all this time. After tying up the innkeeper, Duan Wu quickly moved them to a safer place. Meanwhile, Zhang Jinran’s team arrived at the inn, realizing it was a den of bandits and finding one of Duan Wu’s custom arrowheads.
Overjoyed, he searched around but found no sign of her. He rode into the nearby town to continue the search, but still missed both Duan Wu and Yue Yunxiu. Duan Wu settled Yue Yunxiu in a safe place, paying the inn generously for their stay. Hearing of Xiao Xiami’s passing and Duan Wu’s current solitude, Yue Yunxiu, who owed her life to Duan Wu, insisted on staying by her side. Together, the sisters set off for Hangzhou.
