The Tale of Rose Episode 14 Recap
> The Tale of Rose Recap
Huang Zhenhua took the opportunity of a business trip to Europe to find Zhuang Guodong and tell him about Huang Yimei's current situation. Huang Zhenhua couldn't bear to see the two people in love become strangers, so he persuaded Zhuang Guodong to transfer back to Beijing to start over with Huang Yimei. However, Zhuang Guodong was reluctant to give up everything he had now.
He had worked very hard to secure the position of Marketing Manager and wanted to stay at the headquarters. Huang Zhenhua felt sorry for them but was helpless. When Huang Zhenhua returned from his business trip, he didn't go to Beijing but went straight to Shanghai to find Huang Yimei. Male classmates all mistakenly thought Huang Zhenhua was Huang Yimei's boyfriend and harbored hostility towards him.
Huang Zhenhua eagerly told Huang Yimei about Zhuang Guodong's situation, but Huang Yimei didn't want to listen. She had completely let go of that relationship. Huang Zhenhua didn't push further and casually mentioned Su Gengsheng, sharing many amusing anecdotes about her. Huang Yimei immediately saw that he liked Su Gengsheng, and Huang Zhenhua admitted he had feelings for her. Huang Yimei bought two expensive tickets to an art exhibition and wanted to invite Huang Zhenhua to go with her.
However, Huang Zhenhua had already booked a ticket back to Beijing. Without any close classmates, Huang Yimei invited Yingzi, a waitress at the beer house, to the exhibition. They all found it too expensive and declined. Fang Xiewen bought the tickets from Huang Yimei and wanted to see the exhibition with her. Huang Yimei arrived at the exhibition hall early and seemed to hear Zhuang Guodong calling her name.
She saw him running towards her from a distance, which made her heart skip a beat. She looked around and couldn't find Zhuang Guodong, realizing she was hallucinating. Fang Xiewen hurriedly arrived, and Huang Yimei, acting as if nothing had happened, went in to see the exhibition with him. It was Fang Xiewen's first time at an art exhibition, so Huang Yimei explained the meaning behind each artwork to him, and Fang Xiewen took notes on everything.
Huang Yimei accidentally saw that the notebook Fang Xiewen was using had the Fudan University logo, realizing they were alumni. She had always thought they were just colleagues at the beer house. Fang Xiewen had fallen in love with Huang Yimei at first sight on the day of the welcome event. He joined the beer house to get closer to her but was too shy to express his true feelings.
Su Gengsheng received another phone call from her mother, which made her feel disgusted. Her mother always called to ask for money, and this time, she wanted to sell the house to help her current husband pay off his debts. Su Gengsheng firmly disagreed, as the house was left by her father, and her mother had no right to sell it. Since that day at the art exhibition, Huang Yimei and Fang Xiewen became good friends.
They studied together at the library and worked together at the beer house, living simple yet fulfilling lives. Huang Yimei often wrote letters to Su Gengsheng, updating her on her life and studies. Huang Yimei adopted a stray cat but couldn't keep it in the dormitory, so she had to leave it in the beer house's backyard. Fang Xiewen claimed he rented an apartment outside and offered to take care of the cat.
He asked for leave from the store manager to find a place. Fang Xiewen viewed several apartments in one go, but the landlords didn't allow pets. He finally found a duplex where the landlord didn't mind him keeping a cat, but he had to rent both floors. Fang Xiewen couldn't afford it and pleaded with the landlord, who reluctantly agreed to rent only the downstairs to him but required a six-month deposit. Fang Xiewen readily agreed.
Fang Xiewen bought a cage and brought the cat to the rental apartment. Huang Yimei also wanted to move out and rent a place, which secretly delighted Fang Xiewen. He immediately found the landlord and rented the upstairs as well. The landlord asked for 1500 yuan in rent, so Fang Xiewen sold his bicycle at a reduced price to gather the rent money. Every night, Huang Zhenhua exercised with Su Gengsheng.
When she didn't show up that evening, Huang Zhenhua went running alone but couldn't help worrying about her. He called Su Gengsheng and found out she had decided to return to her hometown temporarily. Su Gengsheng disappeared for several days, making Huang Zhenhua anxious. He packed his bags and rushed to her hometown in Anhui. Su Gengsheng's stepfather had injured someone in an accident, and the victim's family came to their house daily demanding money.
Her mother pressured Su Gengsheng to pay compensation and cover her brother Xiao Jie’s school fees, threatening to make him drop out otherwise. Su Gengsheng resolutely refused. Fang Xiewen persuaded Huang Yimei to rent the upstairs apartment, offering it to her for only 800 yuan, which Huang Yimei gladly accepted. Su Gengsheng took Xiao Jie out for a meal, promising to pay for his education as long as he revealed the truth about the past.
Xiao Jie had witnessed their stepfather sexually assaulting Su Gengsheng years ago, and she wanted him to testify in court. Su Gengsheng then bought the family house, letting her mother and Xiao Jie live there. As soon as Huang Zhenhua arrived in Anhui, he texted Su Gengsheng, informing her of his whereabouts. Su Gengsheng, feeling distressed after dealing with family matters, drank heavily and went to Huang Zhenhua's hotel.
She hugged him tightly upon arrival, and they ended up having an intimate night. The next morning, Huang Zhenhua found that Su Gengsheng had left. When he called her, she told him she was already on the train back to Beijing and asked him to forget about the previous night. Huang Yimei packed her belongings early in the morning to move. Fang Xiewen came to help, and their classmates all thought they were dating.
