After graduating from her master's program, Huang Yimei began looking for a job. Fang Xiewen would come home every day after work to accompany her, and their relationship grew deeper, to the point where they wanted to be together all the time.

Su Gengsheng's stepfather injured someone in a car accident, and her mother decided to sell their family house to pay the compensation. This house was left by Su Gengsheng's biological father. Su Gengsheng bought the house herself, but her stepfather took the money to pay the compensation, and her mother delayed transferring the house to Su Gengsheng. Worried that her mother would back out, Su Gengsheng went back to her hometown to handle it personally. As she feared, her mother not only refused to transfer the house but also cried and accused Su Gengsheng of being heartless. Unable to listen anymore, Su Gengsheng left with her younger brother.

From her brother, Su Gengsheng learned that after paying off the compensation, her stepfather had returned to gambling and had taken all the money her brother earned from his part-time job. Su Gengsheng bought many things for her brother and treated him to a meal. Her brother, afraid of their stepfather, refused to testify about his past crimes, claiming he was too young to remember. Understanding his fear, Su Gengsheng did not press him further.

Leaving her hometown, Su Gengsheng went straight to Shanghai to see Huang Yimei. She apologized to Huang Yimei for saying bad things about Fang Xiewen due to her recent family troubles. Huang Yimei didn't take it to heart.

In his spare time, Huang Zhenhua went fishing by the river and coincidentally met Bai Xiaohe, who was also fishing. They hadn't seen each other for a long time and chatted like old friends. They enjoyed their conversation and agreed to fish together in the future.

Fang Xiewen cooked dinner to welcome Su Gengsheng, who came to help him. Knowing Su Gengsheng had opinions about him, Fang Xiewen felt unworthy of Huang Yimei and was very self-conscious. Su Gengsheng noticed that Fang Xiewen was quite similar to her. After dinner, while Fang Xiewen was busy washing dishes, Su Gengsheng and Huang Yimei had a heartfelt conversation, with Huang Yimei hoping that Su Gengsheng's impression of Fang Xiewen would change.

Bai Xiaohe actively invited Huang Zhenhua to go fishing. Unwilling to refuse, he went with her to the outskirts to fish by the river. Bai Xiaohe, not knowing how to fish, asked Huang Zhenhua to teach her step by step. She soon caught a big bass and used the excuse of not knowing how to cook it to invite Huang Zhenhua to her home. Sensing her intention to rekindle their relationship, Huang Zhenhua wanted to say he had a girlfriend but hesitated.

After her graduation ceremony, Huang Yimei went to a publishing house for an interview. Her excellent professional skills and unique innovative thinking impressed the editor-in-chief, and she was hired on the spot.

Su Gengsheng returned to Beijing, and Huang Zhenhua picked her up at the airport. Their long-awaited reunion was filled with excitement. Huang Zhenhua tried his best to make her happy, suggesting a fancy meal, but Su Gengsheng wanted to go back to his place. On the way, she gave him a set of pajamas, hinting that he should wear them when he moves in with her. Touched, Huang Zhenhua decided to move in that night.

After her traumatic experience, Su Gengsheng had closed herself off and wouldn't let anyone into her life. Witnessing the warm, everyday life of Huang Yimei and Fang Xiewen, she began to long for the same. As Huang Zhenhua was packing to move in with Su Gengsheng, he received a message from Bai Xiaohe. Not wanting to arouse Su Gengsheng's suspicion, he made a hasty excuse.

Fang Xiewen led his team in working overtime to develop software. The process went smoothly, except for the final testing. His colleague, Xiao Zhou, was distracted due to his mother's severe illness. Fang Xiewen let him go home to take care of his mother and took over his work. The landlord came to ask for the rent while Fang Xiewen was still at work. From the landlord, Huang Yimei learned that Fang Xiewen had been paying half of her rent for three years. She wanted to know what else he was hiding. Fang Xiewen admitted that he had fallen for her at first sight and worried she would find a cheaper place. He decorated their apartment to her liking and worked at the beer house to be near her. Unaware of this, Huang Yimei was both angry and amused.

One morning, Fang Xiewen went to work and found the office in chaos. Xiao Zhou had accidentally overwritten the Rongsen company's data while burning a disc. The department manager, Jason, scolded Xiao Zhou harshly. Fang Xiewen defended him, confirming the data accuracy and heading to Rongsen with Xiao Zhou to investigate.

As the weekend arrived, Bai Xiaohe invited Huang Zhenhua to fish, but he was too busy with work. Fang Xiewen came home late, looking troubled. Seeing this, Huang Yimei showed her concern, but Fang Xiewen, preoccupied with work issues, said nothing and went to his room.

Fang Xiewen confirmed Xiao Zhou's data was accurate, but the Rongsen company's data had been overwritten. General Manager Shao wanted to hold the responsible person accountable. Fang Xiewen took the blame.

After work, it was pouring rain. Huang Yimei waited for the rain to lessen, discovering that Fang Xiewen had already put an umbrella in her bag, warming her heart. Fang Xiewen resigned from his job and, braving the heavy rain, went home to break up with Huang Yimei.
