Fang Xiewen faced setbacks at work, and his inherent sense of inferiority resurfaced. He suggested breaking up with Huang Yimei. Knowing he was troubled, Huang Yimei gave him a clean set of clothes and told him to eat first. Fang Xiewen explained the whole situation: he took the blame for Xiao Zhou and might face a huge compensation. Fang Xiewen felt he had nothing left and didn't want to burden Huang Yimei. Huang Yimei not only disagreed with breaking up but also proposed marriage. Fang Xiewen thought she pitied him, but Huang Yimei was determined and believed he would prove his worth through actions.

Huang Yimei took Fang Xiewen swimming and, when he wasn't paying attention, pushed him into the pool. Fang Xiewen struggled as he couldn't swim and barely made it out. Huang Yimei encouraged him to face his setbacks with strength. Fang Xiewen wanted to start a company to develop software that everyone could use. Huang Yimei offered all her savings to support him. Fang Xiewen, unable to refuse her generosity, accepted and asked her to teach him to swim.

Fang Xiewen and his friend Haozi looked for a place and soon found an office. Fang Xiewen's company was officially established. Huang Yimei helped them clean and asked Su Gengsheng to introduce clients from Qingting to Fang Xiewen. Fang Xiewen left early and came back late every day. He and Haozi developed software that was ready for testing. He knew he hadn't been attentive to Huang Yimei recently, but she understood and fully supported his startup.

Bai Xiaohe invited Huang Zhenhua to go fishing again and said she had learned to steam fish, wanting to cook for him. Huang Zhenhua found himself in a dilemma and called Huang Yimei for help. Huang Yimei thought it was serious and flew to Beijing over the weekend to confront Huang Zhenhua. That day, Huang Zhenhua went to Bai Xiaohe's place to steam fish. Bai Xiaohe, emboldened by alcohol, revealed her true feelings: she wanted a child but didn't want to get married. Huang Zhenhua made an excuse and left.

Huang Yimei blamed Huang Zhenhua for not telling Bai Xiaohe about his relationship with Su Gengsheng, leading Bai Xiaohe to have false hopes. She reminded Huang Zhenhua to be honest with Su Gengsheng, or it could lead to bigger problems. Huang Zhenhua agreed to tell Su Gengsheng the truth the next day. Huang Yimei borrowed money from Huang Zhenhua to fund Fang Xiewen's startup and even wrote him an IOU.

Huang Zhenhua confessed to Su Gengsheng about seeing Bai Xiaohe. Although it hurt, Su Gengsheng couldn't control her love for him. Moved, Huang Zhenhua promised to be with her, deepening their relationship.

Huang Yimei visited Fang Xiewen at his company, where he asked for her input on their new software. She inadvertently saw that the software Fang Xiewen designed for Qingting's final client was Zhuang Guodong's company, the Ge Lan Group. Xiao Zhou discovered that it was their department manager, Jason, who caused the data overwrite out of jealousy and fear of being replaced by Fang Xiewen. Fang Xiewen was indifferent to this, but Xiao Zhou, disillusioned with the company's atmosphere, wanted to resign and join Fang Xiewen. Both Fang Xiewen and Haozi had no objections.

Huang Zhenhua gave Su Gengsheng a fine fishing rod and offered to teach her how to fish. Though she had no interest in fishing, Huang Zhenhua's persistent coaxing led her to reluctantly agree to go fishing with him.

In the spring of 2007, Zhuang Guodong was promoted to director of operations at Ge Lan Group. Upon returning to China for negotiations, he went straight to see his father, Zhuang Taiwen. Zhuang Taiwen was overjoyed and prepared a large meal to welcome him. Seeing the dilapidated state of their home, Zhuang Guodong offered to pay for renovations, but Zhuang Taiwen declined as they lived in public housing.

Zhuang Guodong inquired about Huang Yimei and learned she had a boyfriend. Unwilling to accept it, he wanted to see their message history. Unable to refuse, Zhuang Taiwen handed over his phone. Zhuang Guodong read all the messages Huang Yimei sent to his father. Sensing his thoughts, Zhuang Taiwen advised him to forget Huang Yimei.

Fang Xiewen had an early meeting with a client. Huang Yimei personally helped him arrange his suit and tie, wishing him success. Zhuang Guodong visited Qingting Group to discuss a project with Jiang Xueqiong, who asked Su Gengsheng to host him. Zhuang Guodong inquired about Huang Yimei, but Su Gengsheng, cold towards him, reminded him not to bother Huang Yimei again.

Jiang Xueqiong heard that her ex-husband Lao Gu was terminally ill and wanted to spend his final days with him. She resigned from the company, recommending Su Gengsheng as the new general manager. Jiang Xueqiong noticed Zhuang Guodong's lingering feelings for Huang Yimei, and Su Gengsheng guessed he would seek out Huang Yimei. She wanted to call and warn her, but Jiang Xueqiong advised against it, saying Huang Yimei should face it herself.
