Huang Yimei went to work at the publishing house early in the morning. Zhuang Guodong had been waiting downstairs for a long time. Huang Yimei didn't want to talk to him and hurriedly left. Zhuang Guodong did not leave and kept pacing around the building. Huang Yimei noticed him, making her unable to concentrate on work all morning. By noon, Zhuang Guodong was still downstairs, and Huang Yimei, out of spite, did not go out for lunch.

After work, Huang Yimei saw that Zhuang Guodong was still waiting for her. She deliberately stayed in the office until very late, but Zhuang Guodong still hadn't left. Feeling bad for him waiting all day without eating, she reluctantly agreed to meet him. She clearly told him she already had a boyfriend. Zhuang Guodong just wanted to talk. Unable to refuse, Huang Yimei agreed.

Zhuang Guodong took Huang Yimei to a western restaurant. He showed concern for her, mistakenly thinking she studied psychology because of him. Huang Yimei joked about his self-importance. Zhuang Guodong, through persistent effort, had finally become the director of operations at headquarters and obtained French permanent residency. He did all this for Huang Yimei, hoping to rekindle their relationship. Huang Yimei congratulated him and advised him to forget the past.

After the meal, Huang Yimei insisted on paying the bill. She didn’t want to owe Zhuang Guodong any favors. Zhuang Guodong wanted to meet again, but Huang Yimei politely declined and decisively took a taxi to leave. Watching her leave, Zhuang Guodong felt a mix of emotions. As Huang Yimei got into the car, tears streamed down her face, as the memories of her past relationship with Zhuang Guodong flooded back. She felt both sad and wronged and cried all the way home.

When Huang Yimei got home, she started vomiting uncontrollably. Fang Xiewen took care of her meticulously, curious about who she had been drinking with. Huang Yimei didn't say a word. Fang Xiewen found the restaurant receipt in her pocket and went there early the next day to speak with the manager, lying that he had lost a USB drive there the previous night. The staff hadn’t found anything, so he asked to check the surveillance footage. After some persuasion, the manager allowed it. Fang Xiewen saw on the footage that Huang Yimei had dinner with Zhuang Guodong, which made him feel very jealous.

That night, Fang Xiewen handed all his possessions, including his bank card, company business license, and financial records, to Huang Yimei and proposed to her. Huang Yimei was deeply moved and expressed her love for him. Huang Yimei called her parents to tell them about her marriage and asked them to send over the household registration book. Huang Jianzhi had been eagerly awaiting the day Huang Yimei would get married and wanted to give her a grand wedding. However, Huang Yimei, having chosen the poor Fang Xiewen, not only hurried to get the marriage certificate but also decided against having a wedding ceremony. Huang Jianzhi grew more upset the more he thought about it, but Wu Yuejiang gently persuaded him.

Huang Zhenhua and Su Gengsheng received the news of Huang Yimei’s marriage. They felt it was too sudden and worried that Huang Yimei acted impulsively after meeting Zhuang Guodong. Huang Zhenhua wanted to ask her in person. The first thing Zhuang Guodong did after returning to China was to try and reconcile with Huang Yimei, but she gave him no hope. He returned to his home in Beijing, feeling dejected, reminiscing about the happy times he had spent with Huang Yimei there. The joyful voices seemed to linger, but everything had changed, making him feel very sad.

Huang Zhenhua went to Shanghai to deliver the household registration book to Huang Yimei. He repeatedly confirmed that she truly wanted to marry and was not doing it to avoid Zhuang Guodong. Huang Yimei firmly stated that getting married was a mutual decision between her and Fang Xiewen and that Zhuang Guodong's presence would not affect her decision. Only then did Huang Zhenhua feel relieved.

Su Gengsheng called Fang Xiewen to learn about the marriage. Fang Xiewen admitted he had proposed to Huang Yimei because he feared losing her. He promised to always stay by her side. Su Gengsheng reminded Fang Xiewen not to feel inferior, as it would harm both him and others. Since Huang Yimei had chosen him, he was irreplaceable. Fang Xiewen humbly accepted her advice.

Wu Yuejiang and Huang Jianzhi prepared a large box of wedding supplies to send to Huang Yimei. Zhuang Guodong went to the publishing house to find Huang Yimei, only to learn she had taken leave to go to Yanji to get married.

Fang Xiewen took Huang Yimei to his hometown, Yanji, for the wedding. Huang Yimei quickly learned some basic phrases in Korean. The wedding took place as scheduled, with friends and family coming to congratulate them. Fang Xiewen accompanied Huang Yimei to toast everyone. After the banquet, friends and family left.

Zhuang Guodong suddenly called Huang Yimei, and when she didn’t answer, he kept calling. Huang Yimei had to step outside to answer, with Fang Xiewen following closely behind. Huang Yimei lied, saying it was a wrong number and claimed she wanted to walk alone to digest her meal. Fang Xiewen had no choice but to stay and help his mother clean up.
