Fu Jiaming deeply loves Huang Yimei and wants to be with her forever. That's why he has been unwilling to face his own illness. It wasn't until his condition relapsed and he collapsed at Fu Jiamin's wedding that he realized his time was limited. He didn't want to burden Huang Yimei or cause her pain by leaving. With great pain, Fu Jiaming suggested breaking up with Huang Yimei, but she firmly disagreed, insisting on facing the illness together with him.

This was the first time Huang Yimei had faced death so closely, leaving her at a loss and in tears every day. Jiang Xueqiong had accompanied her former husband through his final moments battling cancer, deeply understanding the pain involved. She encouraged Huang Yimei to stay strong in the face of life and death. Whenever he had time, Huang Zhenhua came to the hospital to visit Fu Jiaming, telling him various jokes and anecdotes that made Fu Jiaming burst into laughter.

Huang Zhenhua learned that Fu Jiaming had proposed breaking up with Huang Yimei and felt uneasy about it. However, Fu Jiaming had made up his mind. Huang Yimei accompanied Fang Lian to the hospital to see Fu Jiaming. Fang Lian carefully chose a large cake for Fu Jiaming, warming his heart. Huang Zhenhua took Fang Lian home and asked Huang Yimei to stay with Fu Jiaming. Fu Jiaming again suggested breaking up with Huang Yimei. Enraged, Huang Yimei accused him of cowardice and kissed him passionately, moved to tears by Fu Jiaming's emotions.

Huang Zhenhua took Fang Lian home and happened to see Bai Xiaohe with a little boy, finding it strange. Fang Xiewen video-called with Fang Lian, who sang a song she had composed herself about a deceased bunny, planning to write another for Fu Jiaming. She also recounted to Fang Xiewen the conversations she had with Huang Yimei about death and illness, showing that she had come to terms with death.

Fang Xiewen called Huang Yimei late at night, angrily warning her not to bring up death in front of Fang Lian and forbidding her from letting Fang Lian see Fu Jiaming. Huang Yimei felt she had done nothing wrong, which infuriated Fang Xiewen further, yelling at her over the phone. He insisted on taking Fang Lian to Shanghai, so Huang Yimei reluctantly agreed, taking leave from the kindergarten. Fu Jiaming heard everything clearly from his hospital room.

After recovering and being discharged from the hospital, Fu Jiaming immediately threw himself into work, composing music for Huang Yimei's art gallery. He didn't want to waste a single moment. Fang Xiewen wanted his mother to come and help take care of Fang Lian, but his mother refused, disdainful of Fang Lian being a girl and urging Fang Xiewen to find a woman to marry soon so they could have grandchildren. Fang Xiewen didn't push the issue.

Fu Jiaming wanted to live his last moments of life to the fullest without any regrets. He asked Huang Yimei to try the spiciest hotpot, despite her concerns about his health. Sweating profusely from the spiciness, Fu Jiaming insisted on continuing, and Huang Yimei stayed by his side.

Huang Zhenhua hadn't seen Bai Xiaohe in years. When he visited her at school, he learned that she had graduated and moved to Shenzhen, recently transferring to Professor Liang's laboratory. Curious about Bai Xiaohe's family situation, she made it clear that she was raising her son, Lele, alone. Huang Zhenhua suspected Lele might be his child based on his age. Fang Xiewen sent his secretary, Xiao Yu, to Beijing to pick up Fang Lian. Huang Zhenhua and Huang Yimei took Fang Lian to the airport.

Xiao Yu brought Fang Lian home and bought lots of fried chicken and pizza that Fang Lian loved. She really liked Fang Xiewen and wanted to stay to accompany Fang Lian, but Fang Xiewen found an excuse to send her away. Huang Zhenhua carefully examined Lele's photos, becoming more convinced that Lele resembled him. Unsure of what to do, he sought Huang Yimei's advice.

Huang Zhenhua recalled his one-night stand with Bai Xiaohe. She invited him to go fishing and then to her home for fish. Over drinks, Bai Xiaohe opened up to Huang Zhenhua about wanting a child but not wanting to get married.
