Wen Chao, in an attempt to suppress the crowd, confiscated everyone's swords. Only Jin Zixuan refused to comply, but fortunately, a Jin Clan female disciple named Mianmian was quick-witted and managed to flatter Wen Chao, making him very pleased. As a result, Jin Zixuan was spared from punishment, though his sword was still forcibly taken. Wen Chao then declared that each person would receive a copy of The Wen Clan Glorious Records, a book recording the Wen Clan's past glories.

He ordered everyone to memorize its contents and threatened that failure to recite it would result in severe punishment according to clan rules. Meanwhile, Wen Qing visited Wen Ning and mentioned that Wen Ruohan had recently summoned many clan disciples to Qishan. Wen Ning couldn't help but wonder if Wei Wuxian was among them. Hearing Wei Wuxian's name, Wen Qing suddenly recalled Wen Ruohan's earlier threats and broke out in a cold sweat.

She sternly warned her brother not to get involved with Wei Wuxian in any way. Wen Ning was displeased, muttering that he had a favorable impression of Wei Wuxian. On the other side, Jiang Cheng was secretly thinking about Wen Qing, hoping he might be able to see her here. Soon, Wen Chao began calling on people to recite The Wen Clan Glorious Records. When it was Lan Wangji's turn, he simply stated that he did not know it.

However, Wei Wuxian cheerfully volunteered himself and, to Wen Chao's infuriation, recited a passage from the Lan Clan's house rules instead. Enraged, Wen Chao ordered Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, and Jin Zixuan to clean the manure in the vegetable garden as punishment. The three had no choice but to comply. While scooping manure in the garden, Wei Wuxian tried to strike up a conversation with Lan Wangji about the whereabouts of the Yin Iron.

He playfully patted Lan Wangji's shoulder, but unexpectedly, Lan Wangji, who had always avoided physical contact, flinched violently, causing his bucket to fall to the ground. Hearing the commotion, Wen Chao rushed over and began whipping Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. In a fit of anger, Lan Wangji grabbed the whip with his bare hand, which only made Wen Chao more ruthless.

He smugly declared that he had already obtained the Yin Iron from Lan Wangji, and now that the Wen Clan possessed three pieces, the only remaining fragment might either be with Xue Yang or hidden by Wei Wuxian. Wen Chao then ordered his men to drag Wei Wuxian to the dungeon and "teach him a lesson. "Lan Wangji tried to stop them, but his efforts were in vain, and Wei Wuxian was forcibly taken away.

Standing atop the mountain, Wen Ning watched helplessly. Wen Qing quickly pulled her brother aside, scolding him not to interfere. Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian, who usually feared nothing, was utterly terrified — because Wen Chao deliberately locked him in a cell with a massive and ferocious dog, exploiting his greatest fear. Horrified, Wei Wuxian banged on the door, his hair disheveled, looking utterly miserable.

Just then, a dart containing toad venom flew through the window, striking the dog and rendering it unconscious. It was Wen Ning who had come to his rescue. Wen Ning then handed Wei Wuxian some medicine for his injuries and nervously informed him that Wen Qing was not in any immediate danger but had been acting very strangely lately. Wei Wuxian, understanding Wen Qing's difficult position, bore no resentment toward her.

Wen Ning then gravely revealed that after Wen Chao returned, he announced that the Wen Clan had "cleansed" the Lan Clan by burning down most of Cloud Recesses. He also disclosed that Lan Wangji's leg had been broken by Wen Xu. Hearing this, Wei Wuxian was consumed with rage but urged Wen Ning to return quickly to avoid arousing suspicion. The next day, Wei Wuxian sensed Wen Chao approaching and hastily removed the dart from the dog.

When the beast woke up, its strength had significantly diminished, allowing Wei Wuxian to remain unharmed. Wen Chao, seeing that Wei Wuxian was still alive, dragged him out in front of everyone. Feigning nonchalance, Wei Wuxian smiled as if nothing had happened.

Wen Chao then publicly declared that Cloud Recesses was now under the Wen Clan's control, the Nie Clan in Qinghe had been "suppressed" for defying orders, the Jin Clan in Lanling was cooperative enough to survive, and Jiang Fengmian of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan was still in hiding. Furious, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng clenched their fists, deeply worried about the fate of Lotus Pier. Meanwhile, Wen Ning kept pestering Wen Qing for news about Wei Wuxian.

Annoyed, Wen Qing snapped at him, emphasizing that she was not intentionally siding with the Wen Clan but was only trying to protect her brother. However, she feared that if Wen Ning continued to intervene, he would only bring disaster upon himself. Not long after, Wen Chao received a report that mysterious disturbances had been occurring in Muxi Mountain, where fierce beasts roamed, and none of the dispatched cultivators had returned.

Sensing an opportunity, Wen Chao decided to take Wei Wuxian and the others to investigate. Before leaving, Wei Wuxian attempted to ask Lan Wangji about his leg injury, but Lan Wangji simply responded with indifference, claiming he was fine.
