The Untamed Episode 16 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
The small boat drifted for a long time until Zidian finally released its binding, allowing Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian to break free. Without hesitation, they dismantled the wooden planks and used them as paddles, desperately rowing back toward Lotus Pier. For safety reasons, they asked Jiang Yanli to stay behind and wait for them. At that moment, the once peaceful and beautiful Lotus Pier had turned into a sea of blood.
The Jiang Clan disciples had been massacred, and Madam Yu fought desperately despite being gravely injured. Just as she was about to collapse, Jiang Fengmian finally arrived with reinforcements and rushed to her aid. Unfortunately, they were still outnumbered by the large army sent by the Wen Clan. Jiang Fengmian was eventually pierced through the chest by a sword and fell lifeless to the ground.
Madam Yu, devastated and unwilling to live without him, laughed bitterly toward the sky before resolutely stabbing a dagger into her own heart. In her final moments, she clutched her husband's hand tightly and closed her eyes. The couple died together, hand in hand. By the time Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian arrived, it was too late. They didn’t dare act recklessly and instead hid on the rooftop, silently observing.
They watched as corpse after corpse was dragged out of the house and began to grow increasingly anxious. Holding onto a sliver of hope, they prayed that Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu were still alive. However, their hope was utterly crushed when they saw the lifeless bodies of Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu lying side by side in the main hall, their hands still tightly clasped in death.
Wang Lingjiao nestled coquettishly in Wen Chao’s arms, arrogantly mocking the dead Madam Yu without a trace of sympathy. Wen Chao, indifferent to the bloodshed around him, continued to flirt with Wang Lingjiao, caring only about appeasing his mistress. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were overwhelmed with grief and rage, clenching their fists so tightly that their nails dug into their palms.
Their hatred for Wen Chao and Wang Lingjiao burned so fiercely that they wished they could tear them apart on the spot. Consumed by despair, Jiang Cheng abruptly lost control, leaping from the rooftop and running frantically toward the wilderness. Wei Wuxian immediately followed, fearing for Jiang Cheng's safety. Jiang Cheng ran endlessly through the wilderness until he suddenly realized — they still needed to retrieve their parents’ bodies.
Without hesitation, he turned around and insisted on returning to Lotus Pier for revenge. Wei Wuxian, recognizing the imminent danger, desperately held him back, refusing to let him throw his life away. In his devastation, Jiang Cheng grabbed Wei Wuxian by the throat, blaming him for standing up to protect Lan Wangji and the others, which in turn made the Wen Clan target the Jiang Clan, resulting in the destruction of their entire sect.
Wei Wuxian did not resist, allowing Jiang Cheng to vent his grief. Eventually, Jiang Cheng’s strength gave out, and he slumped helplessly to the ground, choking with sobs. He cried bitterly, expressing his longing to bring his parents back, to return to the Lotus Pier that once stood proudly, but deep down, he knew nothing could ever return to how it was before. The two of them spent the entire night in the wilderness, silently mourning their loss.
When dawn broke, Wei Wuxian pulled Jiang Cheng to his feet, reminding him that despite their pain, Jiang Yanli was still waiting for them. Together, they trudged toward the forest where Jiang Yanli was hiding. Upon seeing them approach with swollen, bloodshot eyes and expressions filled with sorrow, Jiang Yanli’s heart sank. Even before they spoke, she already knew the answer. Trying to brace herself, Jiang Yanli took a deep breath, hoping she was wrong.
But when Wei Wuxian finally explained what had happened, Jiang Yanli completely broke down. Her body trembled uncontrollably as she burst into tears, unable to accept the brutal reality. That day, heavy rain poured from the sky as if to cleanse the world of its filth, yet it could not wash away the blood that soaked Lotus Pier, nor could it erase the immense grief weighing down their hearts.
Jiang Yanli, overwhelmed with sorrow and exposed to the rain, soon developed a high fever. Wei Wuxian did his best to care for her and Jiang Cheng, who remained in a state of numbness. Knowing they could not stay in one place for long, Wei Wuxian left the inn to buy medicine for Jiang Yanli. However, the streets were heavily patrolled by the Wen Clan’s soldiers, who were still hunting down any remaining members of the Jiang Clan.
Wei Wuxian immediately heightened his guard, ready to fight if discovered. Luckily, the Wen Clan soldiers apprehended another suspect at the far end of the market, allowing Wei Wuxian the chance to slip away. He rushed back to the inn, only to find Jiang Cheng missing. Realizing something was terribly wrong, Wei Wuxian quickly told Jiang Yanli to seek refuge at Granny Liu's residence, promising he would bring Jiang Cheng back safely.
Following his intuition, Wei Wuxian hurried back toward Lotus Pier, only to encounter Wen Ning at the entrance. To his shock, Wen Ning revealed that Jiang Cheng had been captured and taken back by Wen Chao. Initially, Wei Wuxian considered capturing Wen Ning as a hostage, but his conscience prevented him from doing so. Much to his surprise, Wen Ning expressed a genuine willingness to help rescue Jiang Cheng. Despite his internal hesitation, Wei Wuxian chose to trust Wen Ning.
That night, Wen Chao hosted a grand banquet in Lotus Pier to celebrate his victory, and he even hung the bodies of Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu at the gates as a display of his power. Wen Ning, having secretly drugged the wine, watched in silence as Wen Chao drank without suspicion. Wen Chao even forced Wen Zhuliu to drink, but Wen Zhuliu, with his sharp intuition, noticed something off about the wine.
However, he chose to remain silent and drank it anyway, knowing he had no grounds to question his master. Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian hid in the dark, his heart pounding anxiously, hoping Wen Ning would succeed in rescuing Jiang Cheng.
