Wei Wuxian went up the mountain to catch wild chickens but unexpectedly discovered Song Lan, whose eyes had been blinded. Shocked, Wei Wuxian quickly brought him back to Wen Qing's residence, where both Wen Qing and Wen Ning carefully treated his injuries. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli also took great care of him, and only then did Song Lan begin to recount his tragic experience.

After parting ways with Wei Wuxian and the others, Song Lan had been traveling with Xiao Xingchen. Several months ago, Song Lan returned to Baixue Pavilion to celebrate his master’s birthday, only to find the place covered in corpses and rivers of blood — his master had also been murdered. The sight of the massacre left Song Lan devastated.

Just as he was grieving, Xue Yang, who had been lying in wait on the rooftop, suddenly descended and scattered a handful of poisonous powder toward Song Lan. Wei Wuxian told him that he needed to cover his eyes on the way to the mountain where Baoshan Sanren lived, and under no circumstances was he allowed to remove the blindfold or look around. If anyone asked about his identity, he was to claim he was the son of Cangse Sanren. Jiang Cheng listened attentively and nodded, fully trusting Wei Wuxian. He began to wolf down his meal, hoping to regain his strength for the journey.

That night, Wei Wuxian sought out Wen Qing, informing her that Song Lan’s eyesight was recovering well and that he would soon leave. Wei Wuxian intended to have Song Lan escort Jiang Yanli to Jinlin and meet up with Lan Wangji and the others. He then requested some calming powder from Wen Qing.

As Wen Qing handed him the powder, a trace of helplessness flashed across her smile — she couldn’t help but wonder what Jiang Cheng would do once he discovered the truth. Wei Wuxian’s expression was firm; he believed there was no "what if. "Later, Wei Wuxian brought the calming powder to Jiang Yanli. Knowing Wei Wuxian hadn’t eaten dinner, she had specially saved a bowl of lotus root and rib soup — his favorite dish — for him.

As Wei Wuxian drank the soup, he was flooded with childhood memories. He remembered his first day arriving at Lotus Pier when he was still a child. Fearful of dogs, he had climbed a tree, terrified, while Jiang Cheng teased him. It was Jiang Yanli who found him in the dark, carried him back, and reconciled the two boys, turning them into inseparable friends. The three of them had shared a joyful and harmonious childhood together.

Caught up in his memories, Wei Wuxian felt deeply moved. Jiang Yanli lovingly reminded him that no matter what happened, the three of them would always stay together and never abandon one another. Soon, the calming powder took effect, and Jiang Yanli drifted off to sleep. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng then entrusted her to Song Lan, asking him to escort her to Jinlin and reunite with Lan Wangji.

With everything settled, Wei Wuxian took Jiang Cheng up the mountain to find Baoshan Sanren. The mountain was dense with lush greenery, and after a long trek, they finally reached the summit. Wei Wuxian carefully blindfolded Jiang Cheng and instructed him to continue alone. Jiang Cheng trusted Wei Wuxian wholeheartedly and walked forward without hesitation. After a long walk, a woman suddenly appeared behind him, questioning his identity and purpose.

Remembering Wei Wuxian's instructions, Jiang Cheng replied that he was the son of Cangse Sanren and hoped that the immortal master would help him. The woman listened in silence for a while before tossing a silk ribbon to Jiang Cheng, instructing him to follow her but forbidding him from removing the blindfold. Without a doubt, Jiang Cheng followed her guidance, unaware that the woman was actually Wen Qing.

Meanwhile, the massacre of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan had become the catalyst for the other prominent clans to rise against the Wen Clan. The three major families united to initiate what would later be known as the Sunshot Campaign.
