The Untamed Episode 25 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli went out to gather lotus roots. The two siblings chatted and laughed as they returned home, only to find Jin Zixuan waiting for them. He had come to Lotus Pier specifically to deliver an invitation, inviting the Jiang clan to attend the hunting event at Phoenix Mountain. Wei Wuxian had never liked Jin Zixuan, so he immediately mocked him.
However, Jin Zixuan, who was usually aloof, behaved differently this time—he said that his mother sincerely hoped Jiang Yanli would come. When he learned that Jiang Yanli was willing to attend, he couldn't hide his joy. At some point, the way Jin Zixuan looked at Jiang Yanli had changed, filled with tenderness and reluctance—he had already fallen for her. Before leaving, Jin Zixuan asked Wei Wuxian if he knew where the last piece of Yin Iron was.
Wei Wuxian refused to answer, which angered Jin Zixuan. Jin Zixuan then pointed out that the Yin Tiger Tally was extremely powerful and had injured many cultivators during the Sunshot Campaign. He hoped Wei Wuxian would give them an explanation. Soon, the Jiang siblings and Wei Wuxian arrived at Phoenix Mountain, where cultivators from all over had gathered. Lan Wangji and others were among them.
Jin Guangyao, representing the Jin clan, read out the rules for entering the mountain: one had to hit the target with an arrow to qualify. Not only that, but the Jin clan deliberately used Wen clan captives as human shields in front of the targets, using their lives for amusement. Seeing how cruelly the Jin clan treated the captives, Wei Wuxian was furious and wanted to intervene, but Jiang Cheng stopped him with a glance.
Jin Zixuan took the lead, hitting the bullseye with his exceptional archery skills, earning widespread admiration. No one stepped forward to challenge him for a while. Wei Wuxian had an idea—he blindfolded himself with a black cloth and shot an arrow swiftly, hitting the bullseye precisely. The crowd erupted in cheers. Seeing the outstanding performances, the Jin clan announced that this was merely the opening round and that the real competition would take place during the hunt.
Phoenix Mountain was lush and dense. Wei Wuxian sat leisurely in the forest, playing "Chenqing" on his flute. Many spirit beasts, as if enchanted, rushed into the Jiang clan's traps. Jiang Cheng knew it was Wei Wuxian’s doing but was helpless against him. Just then, Wei Wuxian caught sight of Lan Wangji. The two quickly started talking, and Wei Wuxian solemnly said that he had once regarded Lan Wangji as a lifelong confidant.
Lan Wangji, just as serious, replied that he still did. As they spoke, they suddenly saw Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli passing by, so they quickly hid. Jin Zixuan carefully examined the ground, noticing the slime left behind by a Man-Faced Spirit Snake. Enthusiastically, he explained the characteristics of the prey to Jiang Yanli, expressing his desire to invite her to the Jin clan’s private hunting grounds in the future.
Jiang Yanli seemed hesitant, and Jin Zixuan misunderstood, thinking she disliked being with him. He became sullen. Unable to bear seeing his senior sister being wronged, Wei Wuxian stepped in to defend Jiang Yanli, causing a commotion that even attracted Madam Jin. Jin Zixuan’s cousin, Jin Zixun, had always disliked Wei Wuxian. He mocked him, accusing him of using sinister methods to hunt.
Wei Wuxian was infuriated—he had only played his flute, so how could that be considered an evil technique? Jin Zixun changed the topic, criticizing Wei Wuxian for attending such an important event without carrying a sword, calling him arrogant and disrespectful. Wei Wuxian, unable to tolerate it any longer, stubbornly refused to reveal the real reason for not carrying a sword.
Instead, he declared that his abilities were unmatched—even without a sword, no one in the Jin clan could compare to him! Jin Zixun's words became increasingly offensive. He started insulting Wei Wuxian’s background, calling him the son of a servant. Wei Wuxian clenched "Chenqing" tightly, his emotions spiraling out of control. Lan Wangji immediately grabbed him, urging him to calm down, while Jiang Yanli pulled him behind her to prevent him from acting recklessly.
Jiang Yanli stood before Jin Zixun, her expression cold. She first apologized for Wei Wuxian capturing too many prey, which made Jin Zixun feel triumphant, thinking he had the upper hand. However, Jiang Yanli quickly changed her tone. She pointed out that, throughout history, there had never been a rule limiting how much one could hunt in such events. Wei Wuxian had not broken any rules; hunting was purely about skill.
Though his method differed from others, it was a technique he had honed himself, so why should anyone complain? Furthermore, hunting was about competition—why was Jin Zixun bringing up personal background? Jiang Yanli had grown up with Wei Wuxian, regarding him as her own brother. She could not tolerate anyone insulting him. Therefore, she firmly demanded that Jin Zixun apologize! For the first time, Wei Wuxian saw his senior sister fiercely protecting him.
He clenched his fists, tears welling up in his eyes—he felt both wronged and deeply moved. Seeing that Jiang Yanli was truly angry, Madam Jin hurriedly stepped in to mediate. However, Jiang Yanli refused to back down. To her, Wei Wuxian was family, and when family was humiliated, it was never a trivial matter. Left with no choice, Madam Jin began scolding Jin Zixun. At that moment, Jin Guangyao and Lan Xichen arrived.
Madam Jin had always disliked Jin Guangyao, the illegitimate son, and now she vented her frustration on him, blaming him for failing to organize the hunting event properly. The atmosphere grew unbearably awkward. In the end, Jin Zixun stormed off, quitting the hunt altogether. Jiang Yanli held Wei Wuxian’s hand, gently comforting him. Jiang Yanli decided to leave with Wei Wuxian, but Madam Jin repeatedly tried to persuade her to stay, even advising her to distance herself from Wei Wuxian.
However, Jiang Yanli refused to abandon him no matter what, leaving Madam Jin feeling helpless. At this moment, Jin Zixuan, who had remained silent all along, finally spoke up. He uncharacteristically urged Jiang Yanli to stay, saying that he wanted her to stay—for himself. As soon as he said this, everyone was stunned. Realizing what he had just blurted out, Jin Zixuan looked around awkwardly and, feeling embarrassed, turned and ran away.
But because of this, Jiang Yanli no longer felt the urgency to leave, and Wei Wuxian had no choice but to go along with her wishes. Feeling unwelcome, Wei Wuxian wandered around Lanling alone. Jiang Cheng, meanwhile, was baffled, not understanding what had just happened. He overheard gossip about Wei Wuxian’s Yin Tiger Tally being forged from Yin Iron and that people planned to avoid any hunting events involving the Jiang clan in the future.
Hearing this, Jiang Cheng’s veins bulged in anger, his whole body trembling. While wandering in Lanling, Wei Wuxian unexpectedly ran into a destitute Wen Qing. Both were shocked to see each other. Meanwhile, at the Jin clan’s residence, Lan Wangji remained troubled. Lan Xichen asked him what was on his mind. Lan Wangji lifted his clear, bright eyes and quietly said, "I want to take someone back to the Cloud Recesses. Take them back, and hide them away." Lan Xichen immediately knew who he was referring to. He sighed softly, knowing that the only problem was—whether that person would be willing.
