Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen were surprised to see Su She at the Jin clan's residence. Su She had once betrayed the Lan clan out of cowardice, proving himself to be anything but a man of loyalty and righteousness. However, Jin Guangyao was quite warm toward Su She—it was he who had invited Su She to the Jin clan.

Lan Xichen, taken aback, warned Jin Guangyao that Su She was a man of grave crimes, but Jin Guangyao feigned ignorance, claiming he knew nothing about it. The banquet celebrating the hunting event officially began. Jin Guangyao, on behalf of the Jin clan, congratulated the Jiang clan on their successful hunt.

Jiang Cheng, knowing that their victory had stirred dissatisfaction among the other clans, quickly spoke up to ease tensions, offering to divide the prey among everyone as a gesture of goodwill. As the crowd raised their cups in celebration, Jin Zixun deliberately tried to provoke conflict by pressuring Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji to drink, fully aware of the Lan clan’s strict prohibition against alcohol. To avoid souring the mood, Lan Xichen reluctantly drank the wine Jin Zixun offered him.

Seeing his success, Jin Zixun smugly continued pressuring Lan Wangji, but Lan Wangji remained indifferent and refused to respond. At that moment, Wei Wuxian walked in with a cold expression and downed the drink in one gulp. Jin Zixun glared at Wei Wuxian, who appeared calm but carried a hidden menace. Wei Wuxian stated that he had urgent matters to confront Jin Zixun about, but Jin Zixun, arrogant as ever, dismissed him outright.

Wei Wuxian cut straight to the point, asking Jin Zixun if he knew someone named Wen Ning. Jin Zixun’s facial muscles twitched slightly, but he stubbornly refused to admit anything. Wei Wuxian continued, detailing an incident from a month ago—Jin Zixun had been hunting near Ganquan, chasing after an eight-winged bat king. In the process, he had come across a group of surviving Wen clan members and taken several of them captive. Leading them at the time was Wen Ning.

Jin Zixun continued to deny it, so Wei Wuxian provided even more details. Frustrated that he couldn’t capture the bat king, Jin Zixun had forced the Wen clan members to carry Summoning Banners as live bait. Naturally, they were terrified and refused. Wen Ning had stepped forward, stammering as he tried to reason with Jin Zixun. During their argument, the bat king had escaped, infuriating Jin Zixun, who then viciously beat the captives and took them away by force.

Since then, they had disappeared without a trace. Realizing that Wei Wuxian was demanding their return, Jin Zixun lashed out with curses. Even Jin Guangshan, the head of the Jin clan, lost his patience, berating Wei Wuxian for disrupting their banquet and declaring that the Stygian Tiger Seal should be confiscated from him. Wei Wuxian had reached his limit.

The Qishan Wen clan had already fallen, but now the Lanling Jin clan was engaging in similarly despicable acts—were they not doomed to repeat the Wen clan’s fate? Jin Zixun continued to spew arrogant justifications, insisting that Wen clan survivors deserved death. Wei Wuxian no longer hesitated. He gave Jin Zixun a final warning—if he did not reveal Wen Ning’s whereabouts within three counts, there would be consequences. As he spoke, an ominous aura of killing intent surrounded him.

Finally, Jin Zixun panicked and admitted that Wen Ning was at Qiongqi Path. Only then did Wei Wuxian calm down and turn to leave, while Jin Guangshan, seething with rage, overturned the banquet table in fury. Wei Wuxian informed Wen Qing of Wen Ning’s whereabouts, vowing to rescue him. Overcome with worry for her brother, Wen Qing burst into tears, and Wei Wuxian quickly comforted her.

Little did they know, at that very moment, Wen Ning was being brutally tortured and killed at Qiongqi Path. Meanwhile, the great sects were growing increasingly resentful of Wei Wuxian, and even Jiang Cheng was furious. As Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian rushed to Qiongqi Path through the pouring rain, they searched desperately but found no trace of Wen Ning. Left with no other choice, they ventured into a valley filled with corpses.

Wen Qing collapsed in grief, frantically searching among the dead. At last, she saw a familiar figure—Wen Ning, his body covered in wounds, impaled with a Summoning Banner, his death unbearably tragic. Wen Qing was consumed by sorrow, while Wei Wuxian’s eyes burned with hatred. He played his flute, Chenqing, determined to seek justice from the murderers. In truth, the Jin clan had been secretly conducting dark experiments at Qiongqi Path.

Now that Wei Wuxian had discovered their deeds, they were willing to kill even more to silence him. As the torrential rain poured down, Wei Wuxian strode forward with heavy steps. The Jin disciples, well aware of his power, fell to their knees, begging for mercy. Wei Wuxian harshly questioned them about what sinister technique they had been practicing and who had killed Wen Ning. Yet, even facing death, they refused to confess.

Seeing their stubbornness, Wei Wuxian played Chenqing, summoning Wen Ning to expose the murderers himself. As the haunting melody of Chenqing filled the air, Wen Ning descended from the sky. His face was as pale as a ghost’s, his eyes filled only with dilated pupils. He began mercilessly slaughtering the Jin cultivators. Wei Wuxian had not intended to take lives, but Wen Ning was beyond control, driven by bloodthirsty vengeance.

Desperately, Wei Wuxian called out Wen Ning’s name, pouring all his strength into trying to stop him. In the final moment, Wen Ning suddenly froze, as if a trace of warmth and clarity flickered in his vacant gaze. At last, he stopped his rampage and collapsed weakly to his knees. Determined, Wei Wuxian rescued the surviving Wen clan cultivators and led them to escape. Meanwhile, Lan Wangji, deeply worried for Wei Wuxian, had also arrived at Qiongqi Path.

The two met in the midst of chaos. Wei Wuxian’s face was filled with grief and indignation—he had no idea where he would go from here, but the world was vast, and surely, there was a place for him somewhere. Lan Wangji’s expression was solemn. From this moment forward, Wei Wuxian had truly deviated from the righteous path—there was no turning back. Under the night sky, Wei Wuxian’s eyes shone brightly. A deviant from the righteous path? Deviant from what? Betraying whom? He had already made up his mind—there would be no turning back.
