The Untamed Episode 28 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
Jiang Cheng hesitated, wanting to ask if Wei Wuxian’s Yin Tiger Tally was forged from Yin Iron. He also pointed out that restoring Wen Ning’s consciousness was nearly impossible—nothing more than a wild fantasy. Wei Wuxian could only chuckle, joking that he had already boasted about it, so now he had no choice but to save Wen Ning. Jiang Cheng was both angry and troubled. These past days, countless major and minor clans had surrounded him, demanding an explanation.
That was why he had come, despite his reluctance. Wei Wuxian remained indifferent. Since ancient times, debts had to be repaid, and murderers had to pay with their lives. The overseers who were killed had brought it upon themselves—this matter should have been settled. Jiang Cheng’s tone grew increasingly impatient. At this point, the only solution was to make a decision—if they handed over Wen Qing and the others, there might still be room for negotiation. Wei Wuxian’s eyes widened.
If they handed over Wen Qing and the others, they would be walking straight to their deaths! Jiang Cheng couldn’t afford to care anymore. The situation was urgent—how could he still worry about others’ fates? Wei Wuxian finally lost his temper. Back when the Jiang clan was in dire straits, it was Wen Qing and her brother who risked their lives to shelter him and Jiang Cheng. They even helped transport the bodies of Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan.
Now that the overall situation had stabilized, was Jiang Cheng really going to be ungrateful? Jiang Cheng was caught between a rock and a hard place. He had not forgotten the kindness of Wen Qing and her brother, but times had changed. Everyone hated the Wen clan—if Wei Wuxian went against the tide, he would be committing an unforgivable crime against the world. Since Wei Wuxian refused to act, then Jiang Cheng was willing to be the villain.
As he spoke, Jiang Cheng drew his sword and was about to strike Wen Ning. Wei Wuxian grabbed the blade with his bare hands, blood streaming from his palms, yet he refused to let go. Jiang Cheng had no choice but to withdraw his sword. He earnestly tried to persuade Wei Wuxian. In the eyes of the Four Great Clans, Wei Wuxian was a maverick, an extraordinary hero, someone who stood above the rest.
But the moment he voiced opposition to them, he would be seen as insane, a heretic, someone who had strayed onto a demonic path—he would never again be free from their scrutiny. In other words, if Wei Wuxian insisted on protecting the Wen clan members, then Jiang Cheng would be unable to protect Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian sighed. If he couldn’t be protected, then so be it. He might as well abandon it all.
From now on, he would be a fugitive, severing all ties with the Yunmeng Jiang clan. Jiang Cheng was utterly devastated. He left in fury, formally severing ties with Wei Wuxian. And even now, Jiang Cheng remained unaware of everything Wei Wuxian had done for him. Wei Wuxian led the Wen clan members in gathering fruit and fishing. Life was hard, but there was joy in their simplicity. However, Wen Qing remained troubled.
She couldn’t bear to keep dragging Wei Wuxian down. She wanted him to return to his old life, to go back to the Jiang clan. But Wei Wuxian had made up his mind—he would not leave. He had made a promise, and he would see it through. He would bring Wen Ning back to normal. That night, Jiang Cheng tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
He thought about the comb Wen Qing had returned to him earlier in the day, feeling an inexplicable mix of emotions. If Wen Qing had once come to him with that comb, asking for help, would he have been as unwavering as Wei Wuxian? Yet Wei Wuxian, for the sake of Wen Qing and Wen Ning, was willing to abandon everything—even if it meant defying the world. Meanwhile, Wen Ning had started to regain consciousness. He could even speak.
Wen Qing was greatly relieved, while Wei Wuxian played Chenqing under the moonlight, utterly at ease. The next day, Jiang Cheng stormed in to challenge Wei Wuxian to a duel. Even though Wei Wuxian no longer had his golden core and his combat strength had greatly diminished, he still had Chenqing in hand. The two fought fiercely, matching each other blow for blow. In the end, both were wounded.
With this, Jiang Cheng officially declared to the world that Wei Wuxian had betrayed his sect, turned against the world, and had been expelled from the Yunmeng Jiang clan. That same night, Jiang Yanli dreamt of Wei Wuxian drifting away in a lone boat, never to return to Lotus Pier. Wei Wuxian, injured, returned to the Burial Mounds, but he still made sure to buy food and meat for everyone.
He maintained his usual cheerful demeanor in front of Wen Qing. Meanwhile, Jin Zixuan planted lotus flowers for Jiang Yanli with his own hands. He confessed his deep feelings for her, promising to build a new Lotus Pier for her in Jinling. A month later, rumors of the Yiling Patriarch spread among the common people. They said he was terrifying—he had betrayed his sect, slaughtered innocents, and refined puppets.
Hearing such absurd rumors, Lan Wangji was so enraged that he turned and left. At that moment, Wei Wuxian was at the marketplace with Wen Yuan, buying potatoes. But in the blink of an eye, Wen Yuan disappeared. Wei Wuxian searched frantically, only to find Wen Yuan clinging to Lan Wangji’s pant leg, wailing loudly. Lan Wangji looked utterly flustered, unsure of what to do.
Wei Wuxian approached cheerfully, and when Lan Wangji saw him, his eyes flickered with a mix of surprise and joy. He even bought Wen Yuan a small toy. The three of them got along effortlessly, as if nothing had changed.
