It seemed that the only person with both free access to Gusu and high status was none other than Jin Guangyao. Su She’s expression grew uglier by the moment. Wei Wuxian continued, saying that today’s siege was nothing more than a well-directed play by Jin Guangyao. To avoid suspicion, he had feigned injury and refused to come, instead sending Su She to secretly sabotage the others. If all the major clans’ disciples perished at Burial Mound, the blame would undoubtedly fall on Wei Wuxian.

To avoid further complications, the major clans decided to take temporary refuge at Lotus Pier. Jiang Cheng was concerned for Wei Wuxian’s safety, and Sizhui also worriedly went back to check on him, only to see Wei Wuxian, weak and exhausted, slowly approaching with the support of Lan Wangji. It was clear they had just fought a fierce battle. The group prepared to travel to Lotus Pier by boat. Unexpectedly, Sizhui became seasick, puzzling everyone, as people from Gusu were not supposed to suffer from seasickness. At that moment, Wen Ning cautiously approached and tentatively asked for Sizhui’s name and whether his parents were still alive.

Sizhui politely replied that his surname was Lan, his name was Yuan, and his courtesy name was Sizhui. He explained that his parents had passed away, and he had been raised by Lan Wangji since he was four or five years old. He no longer remembered anything from before that time. The more Wen Ning listened, the more excited he became—he was convinced that the young man before him was Wen Yuan. Carefully, he took out a toy butterfly from his robe—it was Wen Yuan’s favorite childhood toy. Sizhui was stunned. Wen Ning, knowing that he was unwelcome, pitifully lingered outside. Sizhui, however, felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to him and took the initiative to chat with him. The two quickly became engrossed in conversation.

Two women named Sisi and Bicao arrived at Lotus Pier, claiming to have urgent matters to report. Jiang Cheng brought them into the hall, where everyone gathered to listen. Sisi spoke first, recounting an event from eleven years ago. At the time, she had been a courtesan, but after her face was slashed by an enemy, her business declined drastically. Left with no choice, she joined a group of aging courtesans to do lower-class prostitution work. One day, they were offered a high price for their services. After being transported by carriage to a mysterious location, they were shocked to discover that the man they were meant to serve was a middle-aged man tied to a bed—that man was Jin Guangshan.

Sisi and the others immediately sensed that something was wrong, but their employer refused to let them leave and forced them to continue “serving” the man. Jin Guangshan struggled violently, and before long, he took his last breath, scaring Sisi and the others out of their wits. However, even then, their employer refused to let them go. In the end, all of Sisi’s companions were killed to silence them. Only she survived by desperately pleading for her life, swearing to keep the secret. She was imprisoned ever since. Recently, someone unknown had set her free, and she finally resolved to expose the employer’s crimes.

Everyone was dumbfounded. Based on Sisi’s description, the employer was undoubtedly Jin Guangyao, with Xue Yang as his accomplice. At this moment, the other woman, Bicao, spoke up. She introduced herself as Qin Su’s personal maid and revealed an event from twelve or thirteen years ago. Many years ago, after Qin Su’s mother learned that her beloved daughter was to marry Jin Guangyao, she became deeply troubled, barely eating or drinking. Eventually, she passed away from grief. On her deathbed, she confided a shocking secret to Bicao.

It turned out that Jin Guangshan had once taken advantage of Qin Su’s mother while intoxicated. She had been furious but dared not speak out. Later, she gave birth to Qin Su—who was actually Jin Guangshan’s daughter, making her Jin Guangyao’s biological sister!

When Qin Su’s mother learned that Jin Guangyao was going to marry Qin Su, she lived in constant fear and anxiety. Unable to confront Jin Guangshan, she secretly told Jin Guangyao the truth, hoping he would stop the marriage. However, despite knowing that Qin Su was his own sister, Jin Guangyao still went through with the wedding. This realization devastated Qin Su’s mother, and she passed away in despair and terror.

Hearing Bicao’s shocking revelation, the crowd clenched their fists in fury, feeling that Jin Guangyao was truly worse than a beast.
