Jin Guangyao put on a pitiful expression in front of Lan Xichen, expressing his willingness to hand over the Yin Tiger Tally and leave for Dongying after this night, never to return. He only hoped that Lan Xichen would grant him a way out. Lan Xichen's face was grave, and he refused to let Jin Guangyao call him "Second Brother" anymore. Such a ruthless person was not worthy of being his brother.

Jin Guangyao wept bitterly, claiming that the siege of the Burial Mounds was a moment of madness, all because someone had sent him a threatening letter, warning that his scandals would be exposed. With no other choice, he devised the plan to lure the major clans to their deaths at the Burial Mounds.

Lan Xichen was furious, yet he forced himself to remain patient and crouched down to ask Jin Guangyao: since he knew Qin Su was his biological sister, why did he still marry her? Tears streamed down Jin Guangyao’s face as he recalled the past. He had spent countless efforts to make Qin Cangye agree to the marriage, never expecting that just before the wedding, Madam Qin would secretly come to him and reveal the truth.

It was like being struck by lightning. Even so, he dared not call off the marriage, for he had no excuse and did not dare reveal the truth, fearing that it would lead to a fallout with Jin Guangshan and Qin Cangye. Ultimately, it was all because of Jin Guangshan’s lustful nature—seducing women everywhere, even his own subordinates’ wives, without a care, to the point that he did not even realize he had a daughter. It was utterly disgusting.

Hearing this, Lan Xichen was incredulous and questioned Jin Guangyao—was that why he had used such despicable means to kill Jin Guangshan? Jin Guangyao nodded and admitted it. In rage, Lan Xichen slapped him hard, but Jin Guangyao did not resist. Instead, he continued confessing, revealing that he had also played a part in Jin Zixuan’s death.

It turned out that, years ago, Jin Guangyao had deliberately allowed Jin Zixun to ambush Wei Wuxian at Qiongqi Path and then leaked the information to Jin Zixuan. When Jin Zixuan arrived, Jin Guangyao and Su She worked together to play a demonic melody, causing Wen Ning to lose control and kill both Jin Zixuan and Jin Zixun. Upon hearing this, Jin Ling was overwhelmed with fury.

He lunged at Jin Guangyao, unable to accept that the uncle he had always respected was the one responsible for his father’s death. Jin Guangyao looked at Jin Ling in sorrow and finally voiced his deepest resentment. All his life, he had envied Jin Zixuan—envied how Jin Zixuan was cherished and protected by Jin Guangshan, while he himself had been treated like a dog, kicked down the stairs of Jinlintai, humiliated and ridiculed.

Killing Jin Zixuan had been the only way he could find some relief. In truth, Jin Guangyao had once held expectations for his father, but one drunken night, Jin Guangshan had carelessly dismissed him as insignificant. That became the last straw that crushed Jin Guangyao’s last shred of mercy. From that moment on, all his hopes turned into hatred and a thirst for revenge. At this, everyone was silent.

A hateful person was often pitiful as well—no one knew whether to feel sympathy for Jin Guangyao or despise him. Just then, Jin Guangyao seized an opportunity and used a hidden zither string to strangle Jin Ling’s neck, intending to take him hostage and escape. As they were locked in a standoff, a loud commotion suddenly erupted outside. Next, Sizhui was thrown heavily into the hall.

He struggled to his feet and, gasping for breath, told Wei Wuxian that he had tried his best but could not stop the person outside. Wei Wuxian was confused about whom Sizhui was referring to until a figure emerged from the black mist outside, exuding an overwhelming killing intent. The figure carried a heavy Baxia saber, each step slow and oppressive.

At first glance, he looked just like Nie Mingjue, but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Wen Ning. Both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji quickly realized that Wen Ning had been possessed by Baxia’s saber spirit. Indeed, Wen Ning’s every movement now resembled Nie Mingjue’s. With a furious roar, he leaped up and slashed down with Baxia. Jin Guangyao, terrified, loosened the zither string around Jin Ling’s neck. Wei Wuxian immediately pulled Jin Ling away.

The saber landed squarely on Jin Guangyao’s shoulder, severing his entire arm. Blood gushed out instantly. Jin Guangyao let out a blood-curdling scream, his blood splattering onto Jin Ling. Baxia followed the scent of blood and turned its aggression toward Jin Ling. In that critical moment, Wei Wuxian shouted Wen Ning’s name, snapping him back to some awareness.

However, he was still unable to control Baxia, and just as he was about to lose himself entirely, Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen played the Cleansing Melody together, while Wei Wuxian blew his flute, Chenqing, gradually subduing Baxia. At that moment, Nie Huaisang suddenly let out a shrill cry. The others rushed over to find him lying on the ground, claiming that Su She had attacked him. Su She looked bewildered, while Nie Huaisang kept shouting for help.

Just as Baxia had been suppressed, it suddenly flew up again—this time, stabbing directly into Su She’s heart. Su She collapsed, dead on the spot. Even in death, his eyes remained fixated on the grievously wounded Jin Guangyao, as though still unwilling to abandon him. Su She had been ruthless to others but had always been unwaveringly loyal to Jin Guangyao.

Now that he was dead, Wei Wuxian played Chenqing again, finally sealing both Baxia and Nie Mingjue’s corpse back into the coffin. With things momentarily settling down, Lan Xichen, despite knowing Jin Guangyao’s countless sins, was still too kind-hearted. He treated Jin Guangyao’s wound, though he warned him that if he dared to make another move, he would show no mercy.

Nie Huaisang, who had been listening to their conversation, suddenly raised his head, a flicker of sinister cunning flashing through his eyes. Lan Xichen asked Nie Huaisang to hand him the wound medicine. Nie Huaisang picked up the medicine bottle from the ground but deliberately slipped it into his sleeve, pretending to fumble for it. As Lan Xichen turned to retrieve the medicine, Nie Huaisang stared fixedly at something behind him and suddenly shouted for him to be careful.

Thinking that Jin Guangyao was attacking, Lan Xichen did not hesitate—he swung his sword around and stabbed Jin Guangyao straight through the chest. Jin Guangyao stared in utter disbelief, eyes wide open.
