The White Olive Tree Episode 15 Recap
> The White Olive Tree Recap
Li Zan said he had already forgotten about what happened in Dongguo. Luo Zhan replied that if Li Zan had truly forgotten, he wouldn’t still be working on those models. Li Zan asked Luo Zhan if he knew what "seeing through but not exposing" meant. Luo Zhan admitted that he had struggled for a long time to find the right words, but if it could help Li Zan get better, then there was nothing left for him to consider.
Luo Zhan pointed out that if Li Zan couldn’t remember what had happened, then how could he be so certain that he was the one responsible for Jiang Lin’s death? Li Zan explained that the reason he couldn’t remember was because of trauma—it was the body’s self-protection mechanism. But since it was trauma, how could Jiang Lin’s death have nothing to do with him?
Luo Zhan handed Li Zan a USB drive, saying that he had created a simulation model of the explosion and that using this would make things clearer, faster. Li Zan went to see Jiang Yu, but when Jiang Lin was mentioned, Jiang Yu spoke about him with disdain.
Jiang Yu called Jiang Lin a liar, saying that he had made promises since Jiang Yu was in elementary school, but even after reaching middle school, he had never followed through on any of them. Li Zan asked if it wasn’t too much to place all the blame for the brutality of war on Jiang Lin alone. If Jiang Lin truly didn’t care about Jiang Yu, then why did he keep bringing him up?
And how would Li Zan have even known about Jiang Yu in the first place? Li Zan pointed out that Jiang Yu missed Jiang Lin but was expressing it in the wrong way. He told Jiang Yu to think it over—he would come back to talk again. As Song Ran happened to pass by, she saw Jiang Yu pinning a boy down, warning him not to come looking for him again or else he wouldn’t be polite.
Song Ran stepped in to stop Jiang Yu. Jiang Yu assumed she was meddling in his business. Song Ran handed her business card to Wang Han, telling him to reach out if he needed help. Later, a colleague informed Song Ran that a student from the Experimental Middle School was looking for her—his name was Wang Han. Li Zan returned to speak with Jiang Yu, pointing out that they actually had something in common—they both deeply missed Jiang Lin.
He then went to get his car, planning to take Jiang Yu home. At the same time, Song Ran approached Jiang Yu, trying to understand more about Wang Han’s situation. Jiang Yu was impatient and told her to stay out of it. When Song Ran grabbed his arm to stop him from leaving, Jiang Yu shook her off, causing her hand to slam against the wall. Li Zan arrived at that moment and immediately asked Jiang Yu what had happened.
Jiang Yu didn’t say much. Li Zan treated Song Ran’s wound, commenting that he hadn’t expected their next meeting to be under such circumstances. He brought up Jiang Lin and wondered if there had been some kind of misunderstanding—he wanted to talk to Jiang Yu first. Song Ran agreed. Song Ran’s father called her home for dinner. As she stood at the door, she overheard a conversation between her stepmother and half-sister.
Her stepmother scoffed that all Song Ran had done was take a photo and win an award—so what if people were criticizing her online? Why was she being so dramatic? She also complained that the last time she called Song Ran, Song Ran had yelled at her, making it seem like she was the one about to fall into depression. Unable to listen any longer, Song Ran turned and left.
A video surfaced online showing a conflict between Jiang Yu and Wang Han. Underneath it, Song Ran commented: "School bullying is happening right around us. "A colleague called Song Ran to inform her that their supervisor had also seen the comment and wanted her to delete it. The colleague wanted to give her a heads-up first. Li Zan met up with Song Ran and brought up the situation. Song Ran said she had no personal stance in this matter.
Li Zan pointed out that her comment made it seem as if the situation was undoubtedly school bullying. Li Zan took Song Ran to see Jiang Yu. Jiang Yu was furious. He accused Li Zan of promising that Song Ran wouldn’t write recklessly, yet now she had posted this. Didn’t that mean she was saying he had beaten up Wang Han? Song Ran obtained Wang Han’s notebook, which recorded specific dates and locations of incidents.
One of them matched exactly with what she had personally witnessed. Li Zan countered that the notebook only had times and locations—nowhere did it specify names. So how could they be certain it was Jiang Yu? Song Ran tried asking other students, but no one was willing to speak up.
