Benjamin said that Song Ran and Li Zan were mutually in love, but he and Pei Xiaonan didn’t want to deal with their unpredictable relationship. Li Zan thought that Pei Xiaonan was impressive, as she had managed to make Benjamin, a notorious playboy, settle down. Sa Xin came over to find Benjamin, reminding him that he was supposed to go to the hospital to get his bandages removed.

Benjamin asked Sa Xin if he knew about Song Ran and Li Zan, saying that they were together and seemed quite happy. Sa Xin responded that it was no surprise. Sa Xin mentioned that he hadn’t been in touch with them much, and Benjamin understood what he meant. Sa Xin didn’t want to let the people and situations here affect them any longer.

At the hospital, Benjamin got his stitches removed, and Pei Xiaonan said there was just one last stitch left. She asked Sa Xin if he wanted to take revenge. Sa Xin agreed without hesitation. Someone came to find Pei Xiaonan, saying that a child injured in the explosion had been brought in. Pei Xiaonan and the others quickly rushed over. Benjamin called Li Zan, intending to talk about the child, but he hesitated and didn’t mention it.

Li Zan couldn’t get in touch with Jiang Yu, so he asked a teacher to help bring Jiang Yu to him. Li Zan told the teacher that he might be leaving for a while. He would first go back to Xiguo, then head to Dongguo. Jiang Yu was unhappy when he heard this, thinking they should just go and do whatever they wanted without bothering to inform him—it had nothing to do with him anyway. Jiang Yu said this and left.

Li Zan sent Jiang Yu a message with an old photo, saying that they had actually met when Jiang Yu was a child, and it seemed they were very fated to know each other. Jiang Yu felt frustrated. If they were fated, then why did everyone keep leaving him? He originally wanted to delete the photo, but in the end, he didn’t. Li Zan went to see Luo Zhan and told him that he was planning to return to Dongguo.

Although Luo Zhan was worried about him, he didn’t say much. Li Zan met with Song Ran and told her that he had been considering going back to Dongguo. Song Ran asked if Li Zan still planned to do volunteer work, and Li Zan confirmed that it was something he was considering, but it would depend on the assessment later. The two of them were supposed to return to the hotel, but they were reluctant to leave.

They kept walking back and forth in the hotel corridor. Li Zan joked that, since they were doing this, they might as well cancel the room and just spend the night in the corridor. It should be free, right? Song Ran’s mother called her, asking how long she planned to stay with the mysterious friend and if she wasn’t going to let her meet him. She told Song Ran to bring him over for lunch the next day.

Song Ran was surprised to find out that her mother already knew. She had thought she had managed to keep it a secret. Li Zan asked about Song Ran’s mother, and Song Ran explained that her mother had always been strong-willed. At first, her family had opposed her marrying Song Ran’s father, but she was very determined. Even though they fought a lot later on, she insisted on staying in the marriage.

One day, Song Ran’s father’s current wife brought a child over, claiming that the child was Song Ran’s father’s. Song Ran’s mother initially wanted to take Song Ran away, but her father refused, saying that the people back home would laugh at him. He said they could go to court if it came to that. Song Ran’s mother gave up. Song Ran said she didn’t blame her, but she actually did feel a bit resentful.

She thought that her mother was very persistent in other matters, so why did she give up on this? Song Ran felt awkward every day because she had to watch the three of them together. Li Zan comforted Song Ran, saying that she had every right to be upset. They had dinner together, and Song Ran’s mother asked Li Zan a lot of questions about him and his family.

Song Ran’s mother went to touch up her makeup, and Song Ran felt that Li Zan and his family were all very nice. But Song Ran’s mother didn’t think her father would approve, because he wanted her to marry someone rich and powerful. Song Ran’s mother said that Song Ran could get hurt, but she couldn’t suffer emotional pain. Song Ran’s mother told Li Zan not to stay at the hotel anymore, and that he should stay at their house. Later that night, Song Ran secretly slipped into Li Zan’s room.
