Luo Shu wanted the leader of the Xiang Tang to identify Niu Dali's body, but unexpectedly, Xiao Yue sent someone to secretly move the body. Ziyan saw this and immediately reported it to Luo Shu and Liu Wan. Luo Shu asked Qi Menglin, who was guarding outside, to help retrieve the body. The leader of the Xiang Tang recognized Niu Dali as one of his disciples. Luo Shu reviewed the clues she had gathered.

Years ago, Xiao Yue had gone to the Xiang Tang to ask for a child, and Niu Dali had made her pregnant. After the Xiang Tang was destroyed, Niu Dali, left with no way out, sought Xiao Yue for help. Xiao Yue had leverage over Niu Dali and obeyed him without question. Xiao Yue wanted Zhou Xian to divorce Xue Wenyin, so she had Niu Dali hide her undergarment under Xue Wenyin’s bed.

Liu Wan was convinced that Xiao Yue had killed Niu Dali to silence him, but Luo Shu felt something was off. Xiao Yue’s original intent was to frame Xue Wenyin, not to kill Niu Dali. Still, Liu Wan was adamant that Xiao Yue was the murderer and wanted to ask Han Muzhi to arrest her. Luo Shu knew Han Muzhi well.

His inaction was because he didn’t want the women who had suffered at the Xiang Tang to be dragged into this. Luo Shu wanted to find a solution that would not hurt anyone. However, Xue Wenyin couldn’t wait any longer and was eager to see Xiao Yue punished. Luo Shu wanted to handle it carefully, but Xue Wenyin, in her anger, discovered that Xue Wenyin had bruises all over her body, realizing that Zhou Xian had beaten her.

In a fit of rage, Xue Wenyin went to the county office to report him. Cai Baozi, who had been ordered to arrest Xiao Yue, came to the Zhou household, but Zhou Xian desperately blocked him, reminding Xue Wenyin to consider the bigger picture. Xue Wenyin hesitated to speak up, while Zhou Xian worked hard to protect Xiao Yue, begging Xue Wenyin to go easy on her. He even brought up their son.

This enraged Xue Wenyin, and she shouted that the child was not Zhou Xian’s. Zhou Xian, embarrassed and furious, tried to strike Xue Wenyin, but Luo Shu intervened, loudly reprimanding Zhou Xian and suggesting they conduct the questioning in the mansion. Luo Shu confronted Xiao Yue about her relationship with Niu Dali. Xiao Yue insisted they were cousins, but Luo Shu exposed her lies, mentioning that Xiao Yue had gone to the Xiang Tang to seek a child.

Liu Wan suspected that Zhou Xian's son was actually Niu Dali’s, but Zhou Xian didn’t believe it. Luo Shu told Cai Baozi to bring Niu Dali’s family to confront Xiao Yue, but Zhou Xian, wanting to keep his family secrets hidden, told Cai Baozi to eat first and send Luo Shu and others away. Inside the room, only Zhou Xian and Xiao Yue were left. Zhou Xian pressured Xiao Yue, demanding the truth.

Xiao Yue mocked him, saying he was useless. Furious, Zhou Xian lunged at Xiao Yue, choking her. Luo Shu, Liu Wan, Xue Wenyin, and Cai Baozi burst in and pulled Zhou Xian away. Xiao Yue then publicly berated Zhou Xian. She revealed that she and Zhou Xian had grown up together, but he had married Xue Wenyin for his career.

To give him a son, Xiao Yue had gone to the Xiang Tang to seek help, but all this trouble had followed. Xiao Yue denied killing Niu Dali but admitted that Zhou Xian had ordered her to move his body. Luo Shu suspected that Zhou Xian had killed Niu Dali, but without concrete evidence, she had to put the matter on hold for the time being. Liu Wan urged Luo Shu to quickly arrest Zhou Xian.

Luo Shu told her to find the murder weapon first, and Xue Wenyin, having overheard their conversation, offered to help investigate. Luo Shu advised her to rest, but Xue Wenyin insisted. Luo Shu and Liu Wan racked their brains, suspecting that the murder weapon might be an incense burner. They decided to search Xiao Yue’s room for the weapon.

That night, Xue Wenyin secretly placed the incense burner in Xiao Yue’s room, but Luo Shu and Liu Wan caught her in the act. This was all part of Luo Shu’s plan. She had suspected Xue Wenyin was the murderer and had set a trap to test her. Xue Wenyin admitted to killing Niu Dali.

She had accidentally discovered that Xiao Yue had bribed Niu Dali to frame her, so she had approached Niu Dali, offering him double the reward to tell Zhou Xian that the child wasn’t his. However, Niu Dali became aggressive with her, and after a struggle, Xue Wenyin managed to choke him to death with a rope, making it look like a suicide. The next morning, Xue Wenyin went with Cai Baozi to the county office to confess.

Liu Wan was heartbroken, and Luo Shu kindly encouraged her to pursue her own feelings bravely. Liu Wan, having gained new respect for Luo Shu, asked her to stay in the county office, but Luo Shu decided to leave and travel the world. Liu Wan envied her. After leaving the Zhou household, Luo Shu saw Qi Menglin waiting for her. Her heart warmed, and she shared her thoughts with him. Qi Menglin decided to accompany her on her journey.

Zhou Xian wrote a letter of divorce to Xiao Yue, and she left the Zhou household with her child. Han Muzhi dismissed Zhou Xian from his position as county instructor.
