> Under the Moonlight Recap
Luo Shu went to Han Muzhi to say her goodbyes. Han Muzhi felt that she was leaving because of Liu Wan, but Luo Shu only wanted the freedom to travel around. She had made up her mind to leave. Han Muzhi immediately went to confront Liu Wan, wanting Luo Shu to stay at the county office, but Liu Wan accused him of being selfish and not considering Luo Shu's feelings at all.
Luo Shu packed her belongings and went to say goodbye to Han Muzhi. Han Muzhi came up with various excuses to try to keep her, but Luo Shu refused to stay. With the New Year approaching, Governor Qi sent a letter urging Qi Menglin to return home for the holidays. Qi Menglin wanted to spend the New Year with Luo Shu and asked Lian Shu to prepare some New Year goods to send to the county office.
Luo Shu went to Mingke Fang to bid farewell to Jin Miaocui and prepared many gifts for the girls. Yu Mama mocked Luo Shu and purposely made things difficult for her, saying that Jin Miaocui was now the top courtesan of Mingke Fang and that Luo Shu would have to pay to see her. Luo Shu took out all the silver she had and bought half an hour of Jin Miaocui’s time. Han Muzhi couldn't stop thinking about Luo Shu.
He found himself in the back courtyard, remembering her image and her smile. Han Muzhi felt conflicted, and soon Qi Menglin arrived, mocking Han Muzhi for being hypocritical and unable to face his own feelings. Qi Menglin admitted that he liked Luo Shu and vowed to give her a happy life. Han Muzhi laughed at him, saying that Qi Menglin was naive and would never be able to stand on his own without relying on his family’s power.
Han Muzhi warned him to stay away from Luo Shu, or he would only harm both her and himself. When Luo Shu saw Jin Miaocui, she couldn’t wait to tell her the good news that she had obtained the official document to remove her name from the register. Luo Shu wanted to take Jin Miaocui to Taiyuan, where they would rely on each other from now on. Jin Miaocui couldn’t leave, though, and warned Luo Shu not to trust anyone.
Suddenly, Yu Mama burst in, urging Luo Shu to leave quickly. Jin Miaocui also pushed her away, and Luo Shu sensed that Jin Miaocui was hiding something she couldn’t speak about. Cai Baozi, Xu Wuzuo, and Cai Baozi discussed the idea of spending the New Year with Luo Shu. Chen Meiqing mentioned that Luo Shu was leaving, and they all felt reluctant to see her go.
Lord Qin sent someone to invite Luo Shu to spend the New Year with his family, but Luo Shu firmly declined. Qi Menglin had sent a lot of New Year goods to the county office, hoping to celebrate with Luo Shu. Xu Wuzuo, Cai Baozi, and Cai Baozi had prepared a lavish meal for her farewell. Qi Menglin then learned that Luo Shu was going to Taiyuan, and he was so happy that he couldn’t stop smiling.
He decided to go with her. Luo Shu and Qi Menglin set off for Taiyuan early in the morning, with Chen Meiqing, Cai Baozi, Cai Baozi, and Xu Wuzuo coming to see her off. Only Han Muzhi didn’t show up. Luo Shu and Qi Menglin arrived in Taiyuan, the place where Luo Shu had lived when she was a child. Visiting her childhood home stirred many emotions in her.
Luo Shu went to look for an inn, but Qi Menglin had already arranged for Lian Shu to inform all the inns, and they were all fully booked. With no place to stay, Qi Menglin took Luo Shu to his home. Qi Menglin told Lian Shu to settle Luo Shu in first, then he went to pay his respects to his mother. Lian Shu and Luo Shu entered the courtyard, where they ran into Qi Menglin's older brother.
He relentlessly questioned Luo Shu about her background, but Qi Menglin arrived just in time to intervene, and his brother stopped asking further questions. The maids surrounded Qi Menglin, asking all sorts of questions and gossiping about Luo Shu and Qi Menglin's relationship. Qi Menglin instructed Luo Shu to stay in the side room. After settling Luo Shu, Qi Menglin went to visit his second brother.
While there, he accidentally saw the gift lists from wealthy merchants from all over, and he recalled Han Muzhi's sarcastic words. This made him feel quite uneasy. That night was New Year’s Eve. Luo Shu had just laid down when Qi Menglin sent the maid Xue Zhu to wake her up. He pulled her to set off fireworks and drink wine to celebrate the New Year. They clinked glasses and chatted happily.
Luo Shu was moved by the festive atmosphere and couldn’t help but think of the happy times she had spent with her parents when she was young. A great fire had burned down her home, and since then, she had been an orphan. Qi Menglin drank a lot and became drowsy. When he fell asleep, he woke up to find Luo Shu lying next to him.
He was overwhelmed by the urge to kiss her, but when he saw the tears in her eyes, he felt sympathy and gently wiped them away. The next morning, after breakfast, Luo Shu wanted to go for a walk, but Qi Menglin was planning to meet up with old childhood friends, so he couldn’t accompany her. Luo Shu then learned that Qi Menglin had lived in Taiyuan for a period when he was younger.
