Xiao Chunsheng arrived at the art troupe and reunited with He Hongling after a long separation. Their excitement was beyond words. Comrade Meng Meng saw Xiao Chunsheng through the window and curiously asked if he was He Hongling's boyfriend, but He Hongling denied it.

After He Hongling finished rehearsing, she came to find Xiao Chunsheng, and they went to a nearby restaurant to have a meal. At a neighboring table, there were four people, one of whom was Xiang Nan. Jia Tao, not wanting to prolong the fight, ordered his men to chase after Xiang Nan, while Xiao Chunsheng, He Hongling, and Duan Lei firmly blocked their way. The police arrived in time, causing the thugs to panic and flee. Xiao Chunsheng relentlessly pursued Jia Tao, who turned around and stabbed him. Xiao Chunsheng subdued him on the spot, but the knife in his hand pierced his own throat, causing him to die instantly. Shocked, Xiao Chunsheng collapsed to the ground, and Jia Tao's accomplice, Tian Guo, took advantage of the chaos and escaped.

When Xiao Chunsheng woke up in a daze, he was eager to know about He Hongling's condition. When he learned that He Hongling only had superficial injuries, he hurried to the hospital to visit her. After experiencing this ordeal, Xiao Chunsheng and He Hongling both vowed never to be separated again. Ye Guohua arrived upon hearing the news and reprimanded Xiao Chunsheng without asking for details. He blamed him for not protecting He Hongling well and causing her harm. Ye Guohua showed concern for He Hongling, and she defended Xiao Chunsheng earnestly. Ye Guohua regretted not being there and missed the opportunity to perform in front of He Hongling. Xiao Chunsheng and He Hongling both expressed that they would treat Duan Lei as their closest friend.

The police interviewed Xiao Chunsheng, Duan Lei, and He Hongling about the incident on the day of the crime. The police concluded that Xiao Chunsheng acted in self-defense, but he couldn't let go of Jia Tao's death. Both He Hongling and Ye Guohua tried to console him. Jia Tao's brother, Jia Hui, was the head of a gang. Duan Lei was worried that Jia Hui wouldn't let it go and warned Xiao Chunsheng to be cautious.

Jia Hui had the body of Jia Tao buried and pressured Sweet Melon for answers. Sweet Melon didn't know the identities of the three soldiers, so Jia Hui quickly found out about Xiao Chunsheng, Duan Lei, and He Hongling being in the military hospital. He deliberately spread the news, declaring that he wouldn't let Xiao Chunsheng leave Kunming alive. Zhan Jun came to discuss countermeasures with Xiao Chunsheng and Duan Lei, suggesting that Xiao Chunsheng act as bait to lure Jia Hui out, while Duan Lei would assist him in capturing Jia Hui and his gang. Xiao Chunsheng worried that Jia Hui wouldn't fall into the trap willingly, so Zhan Jun hurried back to formulate a new battle plan.

Ye Guohua bought a lot of supplements and came to visit Xiao Chunsheng and Duan Lei. In the courtyard, he saw He Hongling and learned about the conversation between Zhan Jun and them. Ye Guohua asked He Hongling to pass on the supplements to them.
