Under the arrangement of Gu Wanniang and Li Ni, Gu Xiang finally managed to break free. Li Ni got straight to the point, hoping that Gu Xiang could establish contact with the old courtiers, collaborate with the Zhenxi Army, and recapture West Changjing. Gu Xiang frankly stated that since the loss of Luoyang City, Sun Jing had been monitoring the old courtiers and aristocratic families closely. Although it couldn't be guaranteed that the old courtiers would lend a hand, at least it would cause chaos in the court. At that time, the opportunity to attack West Changjing would be imminent. After contemplating for a moment, Gu Xiang agreed to Li Ni's proposal.

This incident threw the entire West Changjing into chaos. Sun Jing's soldiers combed the streets all day, leaving no corner unchecked. Cui Lin and Li Ni took refuge in a courtyard, but before they could stabilize, the soldiers found their neighbors. In this critical moment, an old woman suddenly appeared. To their surprise, it was the elderly woman they had saved on the road. Therefore, Li Ni's group temporarily stayed at the old woman's house until they could find a way to leave the city under the cover of darkness.

However, the longer they waited, the greater the danger. Cui Lin thought of a plan – the old woman's daughter was about to get married, and since the neighbors hadn't seen her husband-to-be, they could disguise themselves as the girl and her husband, citing the wedding as a reason to leave the city. The only concern was that it might damage the girl's reputation and upset her future husband. Seeing this, the old woman quickly offered to help, suggesting that she would secretly send her daughter away to marry her future husband later. So, everyone put on wedding attire, made a festive exit from the city, and encountered Sun Jing's soldiers on the way, who were busy inspecting every corner of the streets.

Under Tao Zi's meticulous care, Liu Chengfeng finally recovered. However, he showed no gratitude and planned to collude with Sun Jing to take over Mount Guan. Meanwhile, Tao Zi rushed to West Changjing to join Cui Lin. Hearing Cui Lin always saying that dried fruits and nuts tasted excellent together, Tao Zi specially prepared a bag to give to Xie Zhanger. Seeing this, Old Bao couldn't help but make a joke. However, Xie Zhanger, with his wooden head, didn't understand Tao Zi's intentions. Annoyed, Tao Zi turned and left. After a brief rest, the group set out again, only to unexpectedly encounter the battered Zhenxi Army. Seeing their comrades covered in blood, Li Ni's face was filled with disbelief. Upon Cui Lin's approach, the soldiers were even more furious, claiming they would kill her for revenge. After some questioning, Li Ni learned that the Cui family army had colluded with Sun Jing and taken Mount Guan, killing the Zhenxi Army. Li Ni's heart was filled with mixed emotions, and he had to suspect that going to West Changjing was Cui Lin's plan, aimed at diverting him.

Cui Lin was also shocked and didn't know what had happened. She just hoped Li Ni would believe her. Beside him, Pei Yuan couldn't help but remind Li Ni not to trust Cui Lin anymore. From their confrontation until now, she had told too many lies. Faced with Li Ni's questioning, Cui Lin felt disheartened. She admitted that when they first met, she did have ulterior motives, but this time, she truly didn't deceive him, and she had no intention of taking the lives of the Zhenxi Army.
