Li Ni, in a moment of impulsiveness and disbelief in himself, saw Cui Lin wanting to leave without explaining anything further. However, Li Ni caught up with her, pointing his sword at Cui Lin. The armies of Zhenxi and the Cui family became angry, engaging in duels. Li Ni, enraged, cut Cui Lin's neck with his sword, drawing blood. Feeling uneasy, he quickly withdrew the sword, instructing Cui Lin and her army to leave. Cui Lin glared at him before departing with her forces.

The two divisions of the Cui family's army finally merged, and Liu Chengfeng, pleased, inquired about Cui Lin's well-being. However, Cui Lin accused him of conspiring with Sun Jing to take over Mount Feng, disregarding Zhenxi's alliance and refusing to consult with her. Upset, she left without saying much.

With Mount Feng lost, Zhenxi's only option was to head towards Luoyang. Concerned that Li Ni's elder brother might become suspicious of their situation, Li Ni believed the two elder brothers were not to be feared. He anticipated that as long as Pei Xian led the rear army of Zhenxi, they wouldn't dare make any rash moves. To everyone's surprise, Li Jun and Li Lai sent supplies, prompting Li Ni to accept and plan to regroup before heading to Luoyang.

On the other side, Li Jun and Li Lai, upon learning that Li Ni accepted the supplies, believed he would eventually surrender. They intended to blame him for Mount Feng's loss, taking away his military authority. Li Ni, no longer a thorn in their side, became the next target for the two brothers. Since their previous attempt to ambush Cui Lin failed, they planned to try again and frame Li Ni. They hastily sent a letter urging him to return to Luoyang.

Soon, news of Sun Jing's failure in the southern campaign spread. Despite Sun Jing's orders to keep the information confidential, it quickly leaked. Li Ni and Cui Lin thought it might be Sun Jing's strategy to lure out hidden enemies. Seizing the opportunity, they decided to turn the tables.

Upon learning of the Li brothers' plan to ambush the Cui family's army, Lao Bao asked Li Ni if he wanted to save them. Li Ni decisively refused. However, he changed direction and arrived near their ambush site. With a swift stroke, a blade flew into the wooden stakes, creating a shower of wood chips that obscured Cui Lin's vision. The chips burned her face as she tried to defend herself against the assailant.

Li Ni, on horseback, aimed his bow and arrow at the attacker threatening Cui Lin. Seizing the advantage, Cui Lin fought back. Suddenly, another assailant rose and attacked Cui Lin. Lao Bao noticed in time, pushing Cui Lin aside and taking the blow himself. After eliminating the attackers, Cui Lin looked distraught as she watched Liu Chengfeng fall. When Li Ni arrived, she accused him of intentionally arriving late, to which he unexpectedly admitted.

Subsequently, Li Ni took advantage of the situation, sending a letter to Cui Yi, using Ayin as leverage, intending to attack Xichang Jing together. Despite Cui Yi's anger, he reluctantly agreed, but with a condition: Zhenxi's army had to capture Cui Li alive.
