The night was dark, and the wind howled, causing the leaves to rustle in a terrifying manner. Cui Li was bound to a tree, unable to move. Finally, someone arrived, and he planned to bribe them to release him. However, to his astonishment, the one who kidnapped him was actually "Cui Lin." Liu Chengfeng had the Jieshuo people feed poison to Cui Li, turning him into his puppet. Due to the deep-seated enmity between the Cui family and Jieshuo, Cui Li recognized the poison. It was then that he realized the person claiming to be "Cui Lin" was not his sister but Liu Chengfeng.

At times, Cui Yi would ponder whether it was a mistake to raise his daughter as a boy and present her to the court as a boy. Therefore, he felt guilty towards Cui Lin, always worrying about explaining to his deceased wife in the afterlife. He wanted to find a husband for Cui Lin, relieving her from such struggles. Regarding Li Ni, he was satisfied, but their social status seemed like an insurmountable barrier. While contemplating this, someone reported that they had seen Cui Li in the woods.

Without informing Cui Lin, Cui Yi led a group of men to the woods and unexpectedly encountered Liu Chengfeng. Cui Li cooperated with Liu Chengfeng, pretending to be a hostage, and shifted all blame for Liu Chengfeng's fall into the water onto Li Ni. Cui Yi, not wanting to hear Liu Chengfeng's nonsense, took out his bow and arrow, pointing it directly at Liu Chengfeng and his direction. Recalling his childhood, when Cui Yi taught him and Cui Lin how to successfully escape from being kidnapped, Liu Chengfeng lightly turned his head, evading the arrows. The arrows flew past Liu Chengfeng's ear and plunged deeply into Cui Li's throat. Only then did Cui Li realize that Liu Chengfeng's promise to spare him was all a lie. As he neared death, he wanted to tell Cui Yi about Liu Chengfeng's true identity, but he was already gasping for breath and soon breathed his last.

After Liu Chengfeng's recovery, Cui Yi informed him that he intended to restore his identity and no longer let him be a shadow of Cui Lin. He even planned to find a suitable wife for him through a matchmaker. This was meant as a kind gesture from Cui Yi, but in Liu Chengfeng's eyes, it turned into grating words. He pretended to appreciate Cui Yi but secretly resented him for not allowing Cui Lin to marry him. Later, he brought a bowl of sweet soup, seemingly thanking Cui Yi, and watched as Cui Yi drank it all.

Subsequently, Li Ni came to discuss the Changzhou matter with Cui Yi, stating that he didn't intend to confront the Cui family army with force. Just as Li Ni spoke, Cui Yi suddenly spat out blood. Startled, Li Ni widened his eyes and hurriedly approached to check the situation. However, by the time he reached him, Cui Yi had fainted. Quickly, Liu Chengfeng ordered his men to surround Li Ni, claiming to avenge Cui Yi. Fortunately, Cui Lin arrived in time and stopped Liu Chengfeng. However, Liu Chengfeng insisted on killing Li Ni. Helpless, Cui Lin had to draw her sword and threaten. Disheartened, Liu Chengfeng ordered his men to release Li Ni.

Afterwards, Liu Chengfeng lied to Cui Lin, claiming that Cui Yi wanted him to marry her. Initially puzzled, Cui Lin thought it over and seemed to understand something. She asked Liu Chengfeng if her father had really said those words. Liu Chengfeng was confident and approached Cui Lin, asking if she was willing to marry him. Cui Lin's gaze turned cold as she asserted that her father would never say such things. Moreover, the vengeance against her father that Liu Chengfeng spoke of was just a deception. She questioned Liu Chengfeng if he was the one who poisoned her father. She couldn't comprehend why her father, who had treated him as a son and her as a sister since childhood, would be targeted with such cruelty.

Worried that time was of the essence, Liu Chengfeng hastily prepared for the wedding. Regardless of Cui Lin's response, he intended to marry her. To convince everyone, he even moved the unconscious Cui Yi to the courtyard, pretending to pay filial respects and offer him wine. Unexpectedly, Cui Yi suddenly opened his eyes and firmly grasped Liu Chengfeng's hand.
