Upon learning that Cui Lin had gone missing, Cui Yi hastily led a group to rescue her. Knowing he couldn't match Cui Yi's strength, Liu Chengfeng planned to take Cui Lin away, leaving Ah Shu to deal with the situation. On the other hand, Li Ni anticipated Liu Chengfeng's next move and waited on the road. At that moment, Cui Lin was unconscious, lying on a makeshift bed. Seizing the opportunity, Li Ni and his group rushed forward, disrupting Jieshuo's formation and rescuing Cui Lin. Jieshuo's people, unwilling to linger, and recognizing Liu Chengfeng's value, retreated after knocking him unconscious.

When Cui Lin woke up, she saw Li Ni. She could hardly believe it and had to confirm multiple times. Li Ni tightly held her hand, affirming that he had been by her side all along. Cui Lin finally breathed a sigh of relief, recalling that she had seen Li Ni like this before, but it was only in a dream. Li Ni, full of concern, rested Cui Lin's head on his chest and gently patted her shoulder to comfort her.

At night, everyone gathered around a bonfire, drinking and eating meat, enjoying themselves. Lao Bao told Li Ni that he and his brothers had previously rescued Lady Qin and her daughter Xiao Xier from Fengying Tower. As they discussed this, they couldn't help but talk excitedly about reuniting when peace returned to the world, taking Lady Qin and Xiao Xier back to Laos Lan Pass. At that time, they could all gather again.

Under the flickering fireflies and countless stars, Cui Lin and Li Ni sat by the river, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Li Ni caught a firefly and placed it in Cui Lin's hand. Cui Lin, looking at the tiny but radiant firefly in her hand, smiled happily. Li Ni asked Cui Lin if she would agree to something if he caught a hundred fireflies for her. Cui Lin was resolute, stating that even if he caught a thousand or ten thousand fireflies, she wouldn't agree to his request. Li Ni hesitated, seemingly wanting to say something to Cui Lin but struggling to find the words. Cui Lin turned her head and gently kissed him.

With Liu Chengfeng's help, Jieshuo captured Baishui Pass, making it extremely dangerous for Dayu. When the new emperor and ministers learned that Liu Chengfeng was Cui Yi's adopted son, they began to suspect the Cui family's allegiance.
