Cui Cui dragged Ling Miaomiao through the streets, buying everything in sight. Ling Miaomiao, exhausted, decided to head back to rest. This startled Cui Cui, who worried that Mu Sheng would scold her. Hearing that Mu Sheng had prepared a surprise for her, Ling Miaomiao was delighted and mentally prepared herself before opening the door. The first thing she saw were the performers hired by the young marquis, but she mistakenly assumed that everything had been arranged by Mu Sheng.

Cui Cui pushed Ling Miaomiao forward to receive the confession, but the man who descended from above turned out to be the young marquis instead. Ling Miaomiao was stunned, realizing that it was the young marquis, not Mu Sheng, who intended to confess, and she quickly stopped him, feeling her mood drop. Cui Cui rushed to inform Mu Sheng, knowing this was a big issue. Noticing Ling Miaomiao’s displeasure, the young marquis quickly apologized.

Ling Miaomiao firmly rejected him, stating that she already had someone she loved. The young marquis, though disappointed, offered her his blessings. Nevertheless, he presented a wooden bracelet as a gift, and when she attempted to refuse, he quickly slipped it onto her wrist. Once Ling Miaomiao wore the bracelet, her demeanor changed; as if transformed, she suggested marrying the young marquis, leaving Mu Sheng completely dumbfounded.

Ling Miaomiao then announced to everyone that they’d already discussed the wedding date and invited them to stay and celebrate. Mu Yao and Liu Fuyi were surprised but chose to respect her wishes, thinking that a noble marriage might be safer for her than the life of adventure they led. However, Mu Sheng couldn’t accept it, convinced she had lost her senses, his eyes turning red with concern.

The young marquis then appeared with Ling Miaomiao, and the crowd began whispering about her being the future marquis’s wife. Mu Sheng caught up and pulled Ling Miaomiao aside, baffled by her sudden behavior. He inspected her surroundings, suspecting some dark influence, but detected no trace of evil. Even the wooden bracelet gifted by the young marquis revealed nothing suspicious. Frustrated, Ling Miaomiao lifted her skirt and went to find the young marquis again.

Heartbroken but not giving up, Mu Sheng chased after their carriage, wedging himself between the two, claiming that Mu Yao had sent him to protect Ling Miaomiao. The young marquis took Ling Miaomiao to look at wedding attire, while Mu Sheng, watching them select clothes together, seethed with frustration. Ling Miaomiao chose a wedding outfit that the young marquis didn’t particularly like, opting instead for something extremely tacky.

Surprisingly, she agreed, saying that as long as her beloved was satisfied, so was she. Hearing her call the young marquis her "beloved," Mu Sheng’s heart shattered, and he angrily muttered harsh words in her direction. Hearing Mu Sheng and the others call her Ling Miaomiao, the young marquis attempted to do the same, but she insisted he call her Lin Yu.

Meanwhile, Mu Yao learned from Guo Xiu about Tao Ying’s involvement in assisting Dowager Zhao to build the Hall of Flourishing Goodness, even showing her Tao Ying’s blueprints. Mu Yao realized it was a malicious formation, capable of nourishing demons and granting them an immortal body. Years ago, misled by Tao Ying, Dowager Zhao had brought in a young girl as a deity to pray in the hall, while townsfolk gathered for the ceremony.

The formation almost succeeded, but Mu Yao’s father, Mu Huaijiang, happened to pass by and saved everyone. Ling Miaomiao and the young marquis dined and drank together, with the young marquis growing merry from the alcohol. Taking advantage of the moment, Ling Miaomiao left to prepare a sobering soup, and Mu Sheng seized the opportunity to whisk the young marquis away to a secluded spot.

In a near frenzy, he demanded to know what the young marquis had done to Ling Miaomiao to make her suddenly infatuated with him. The young marquis vehemently denied any wrongdoing, but Mu Sheng, overcome, grasped his throat tightly. In his daze, the young marquis noticed a hair ribbon tied in Mu Sheng’s hair, one he vaguely recalled seeing as a child. Reaching out, he untied it just as Ling Miaomiao rushed to the scene.

In his demonic form, Mu Sheng stood with his hair loose, exuding a fierce aura. But seeing the fear in Ling Miaomiao’s eyes shattered his heart; he never imagined that she, the one person who hadn’t feared his true form, would look at him that way. Ling Miaomiao tried to calm him with a nervous explanation, but he instantly saw through her lie.

For a brief moment, Ling Miaomiao regained her senses, but the wooden bracelet soon overpowered her once more. In agony, Mu Sheng hastily picked up the ribbon from the ground and tied it back on himself, the dark energy dissipating. He turned to see Ling Miaomiao tenderly supporting the young marquis, her concern evident, his eyes reddening. Years ago, the girl offered as a deity in the Hall of Flourishing Goodness was Pei Yun’s sister, Pei Yu.

Her hatred had never faded, and for revenge, she had waited seven long years. Now, her master required a wedding on the eighth day to complete the plan, and Pei Yun’s objective was to ensure the ceremony proceeded as planned. Mu Yao entered the Hall of Flourishing Goodness, discovering hidden magic within it. She sensed her father’s spiritual power, yet wondered why he would seal a demon instead of destroying it. Could it be that this seal held a powerful ninth-level demon that even he couldn’t kill?
